?? Breaking Down Barriers for Young Learners ?? When I first started working in museums, my #1 goal was simple: Increase access for children. I wanted to create opportunities for children to experience the magic of museums early on—because I believe the love of learning starts young. Fast forward to today, and I’m thrilled to be part of an organization that takes this mission to heart. We provide over 100,000 children and families access to our museum each year, with 25% of our audience coming in for FREE or at heavily reduced admission. This means over 100,000 visitors in our downtown St. Paul location don’t have to worry about the cost of admission when they explore, discover, and learn through play. ?? ?? Why is this so important? Play is one of the most powerful tools for children’s development. It sparks curiosity, encourages problem-solving, and fosters creativity. Every exhibit, every interactive experience, is a chance for a child to explore the world in a way that’s meaningful to them—and that shapes their future. When we remove barriers to entry, we’re not just offering a fun day out. We’re planting seeds that will grow into a lifelong love of learning. ?? But we can’t do it alone. In the wake of the devastating fires across Los Angeles, we’re heartened to share a vital source of support for our creative community. This week, a coalition of arts organizations and philanthropists, led by Getty and including the Mohn Art Collective (Hammer Museum, Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), and MOCA | The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles), The Broad, and other national and international partners, announced the creation of the LA Arts Community Fire Relief Fund. This $12 million emergency relief fund will provide critical support to artists and arts workers across all disciplines who have been impacted by the fires. The fund will be administered by the incredible team at the Center for Cultural Innovation (CCI). Starting Monday, January 20, affected artists and arts workers can visit?the CCI arts website to apply for emergency grants. CCI staff are prepared to offer guidance and ensure a streamlined application process to get funds into the hands of those in need as quickly as possible. Today is Holocaust Rememberance Day, remembering the millions of Jewish people and others killed by hatred, power hungry megalomaniacs and those that followed them, and a horrific war machine. It's our duty to remember and *act* to make the world less able to do this again, to anyone, in memory of those we lost and the evils that were wrought on fellow humans. ?? Deaf Organizations Fund (DOF) was established in 2021 to offer fully accessible grants and resources to deaf-centric nonprofits based in the US. DEAFinitely Inc. was one of four organizations chosen among a record-breaking 84 applications from deaf-centric organizations and programs across the country to receive the impact grant. . With these funds, DEAFinitely, Inc. will expand their DeafBlind Youth Council (DBYC), which provides accessible virtual and in-person youth leadership and peer mentoring opportunities for DeafBlind youth. .
