Trump has just signed the global gag rule — a policy that cuts US aid to any global organisation that provides or advocates for abortion. With the stroke of a pen, Trump has signed away the health, rights and lives of millions of women around the world. MSI will never stop fighting for the right to choose, but that decision comes at a cost. MSI stands to lose $14 million in US funding due to Trump’s gag rule, jeopardising frontline services. Without access to contraception, safe abortion and other essential reproductive care, more women will be forced down a path they didn’t choose. It's time to be bold and #ChooseChoiceNow. Here are three actions you can take to protect global abortion access: 1. Raise your voice for choice and share this post to spread awareness of the global impact of Trump’s policies. 2. It appears we are going backwards
Keep preaching, MSI, keep preaching.
It's frightening the power of one pen in one man's hand has over the health, wellbeing and lives of millions of women and their families. There were times when I used to think that as a society we logically moved forward, but this constant ball playing with women's reproductive health for political purposes totally undermines that belief. Margaret Atwood knew what she was writing about.

I can’t find words. Except to say we must maintain hope, strength and courage to fight these policies.
No mater what, we will keep advocating for people to make choices on their own body, health and well-being.
This is devastating—but not surprising. The Global Gag Rule has always been a brutal policy weaponized to strip reproductive rights from millions of women, particularly in the Global South. With one signature, Trump has endangered lives, gutted essential healthcare services, and empowered anti-rights movements worldwide.
That is what freedom is all about. Crazy world.
Yet he is okay with the gun laws in the US ?

1 个月Up to 14% of pregnancies end in unsafe abortion in Kenya (Mumah et al., 2014), resulting in about 2600 deaths annually. An estimated 4.2 million African women resort to unsafe abortions each year, and 30 000 die as a result, says the World Health Organization.xxx Kenya's progress in reducing its high maternal mortality rate (MMR) is under serious threat and SDG 3.1 may remain as a mirage. To win this war, Kenya and Africa must restrategize. This means prioritizing investment in SRH services, improving access to contraception, strengthening healthcare systems, and fostering partnerships that align with our unique challenges and cultural contexts. While global partnerships are vital, our resilience and self-driven solutions will determine the trajectory of our progress. As the late Nelson Mandela once said, “We must use time wisely and forever realize that the time is always ripe to do right.” The time to take charge of our destiny is now!!!!
