Time for Change in the global Scaffolding Industry:
The global scaffolding industry is at a pivotal moment. For years, those at the sharp end – the scaffolding operatives themselves – have felt unheard. While the UK calls for better training, the Global Scaffolding Association (gSA) stands firm in its belief that the core of the problem lies deeper than just the standards.
The real question is: who is shaping these standards, and do they truly understand the realities of working on the tools and what training is required?
The gSA believes it’s time for real change. The global scaffolding industry needs its focus shifted to serving the operatives, not corporate interests. Moreover, ensuring transparency and accountability at every level. Crucially, some of the leadership positions must be held by individuals who have deep scaffolding experience.
We need directorships who have felt the weight of a spanner in their hand, who know the risks and intricacies of the job, and who understand what it means to work at heights and what training is required for a sustainable future.
This is not just about policy or protocol – it's about respecting the craft and those who dedicate their lives to it. It’s about ensuring that the industry is guided by a balanced blend of business acumen and genuine scaffolding expertise. Only then can we build a future that is safer, more innovative, and more attuned to the realities of the job.
So, let's start the conversation. Is it time to give a voice to the people who are truly keeping the industry standing tall? We believe the answer is yes. And with the collective will of those who know scaffolding inside and out, we can usher in a new era of leadership that honours the workers, the companies, and the future of scaffolding communities globally.
It’s time for change.

Imagine if we could simplify things. If we had fewer regulations and certifications, we could build more trust. Consumers would feel confident buying from us, knowing they're getting the real deal, not fakes or products from companies that aren't ethical. It would be a win-win for everyone
