As global environmental issues become more serious, the issue of waste management and recycling is gaining more and more attention. As a city-state with limited resources, how does Singapore perform in this regard, and what opportunities and challenges does it face? From the waste recycling data of Singapore in the past six years, it can be seen that the recycling rate in Singapore has been fluctuating repeatedly. There are many reasons for the fluctuation, such as the imperfect recycling chain and the lack of waste recycling infrastructure. We can also see that the government has made many efforts to improve the recycling rate. The government has strengthened knowledge popularization, built many waste recycling stations, and urged enterprises to fulfill their obligations from a legal perspective. I discussed and studied the above topics in the COMM5501 Data Visualization and Communication course at UNSW. Through learning in this course, I learned how to use more concise and logical language to describe a story and how to make a rich data map. In this class, I would like to thank my tutorial instructor and my group members. They provided a lot of suggestions for my project. I think this course is very useful, and I can better present my data stories in future work and study. I will also continue to explore the software Tableau. A growing number of US companies recognise that carbon offsets market is necessary. The rules of the road should be to make these offsets scarce so that the price remains high and that energy efficiency technologies should be considered first. Otherwise these offset will be just another scam.
