When I have my initial consultation with a prospect, one of the questions I ask is, "What are your goals?" I encourage not only talking about business goals, but personal goals as well since our businesses usually play a vital role in helping us achieve our personal goals. When I started my firm, I asked myself the same question. One of the pillars I wanted to build my business on was giving. Before I even had any clients, I decided I would donate 5% of my revenue. For a couple years I donated to Operation Underground Railroad (OUR) but last year I made the switch to Doors to Freedom. It is also an organization that helps victims of trafficking but they are local to my area. I love what they stand for and how they help rehabilitate and care for victims. It's been really humbling each quarter to review my revenue and make my donation knowing that I wouldn't normally be able to donate or donating the amount I'm able to without my business.
