Just wrapped up an enlightening two weeks diving deep into Evaluating Public Health Programs at Scale with Johns Hopkins University! ???? We delved into crucial questions about program implementation and impact. Is the program reaching its intended strength to achieve the desired outcomes? Are the services effectively utilized by the target population? These questions are pivotal in assessing the effectiveness of public health initiatives. We explored various methodologies for evaluating program implementation strength, including the RADAR implementation strength assessment tools. These tools provide invaluable insights into the robustness of program execution, helping us identify areas for improvement and optimization. Furthermore, we examined the significance of assessing utilization within the health systems context for comprehensive program evaluation. Understanding how services are utilized by the target population offers critical insights into the program's reach and effectiveness within the broader healthcare landscape. I'm truly grateful for the opportunity to deepen my understanding of public health program evaluation with Johns Hopkins University. Looking forward to applying these insights to drive meaningful impact in public health initiatives! #PublicHealth #ProgramEvaluation #JohnsHopkinsUniversity

I am excited to share my latest research: "A Typology of US Public Health Work-Education Programs"--now published in the Journal of Public Health Management and Practice! https://lnkd.in/e6t9kDd2 In this study, I developed a typology to help public health practitioners and organizations better understand the various types of work-education programs, their key differences, and the potential they hold for improving workforce development and public health outcomes. Why this matters: - Public health challenges are increasingly complex and workforce development is critical. - Work-education programs bridge the gap between academic learning and practical experience, shaping the next generation of public health professionals. - The typology provides a framework to guide decision-makers in designing and implementing effective programs tailored to their needs. I am so grateful to my partners at #BUSPH who contributed to and supported my research. It's my hope this work will inspire conversations and action in strengthening the public health workforce.

Higher Education Emerging Leader | Public Health Advocate | Career Mentor | Bridging the gap between industry and higher education
Very excited to share Public Health Insiders with you! This is a project Kirsten Marks and I have been working on (and keeping under wraps) for the past year. It was born out of frustrations from students not knowing what to do with their public health skills and knowledge. More specifically what does a career in public health look like? What career paths are available? Our solution was to create a podcast and set of digital resources which you can access here: https://lnkd.in/g7X6NdBP. We'll also be sharing on Instagram and via our LinkedIn group. Big thanks to the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH) and Monash Public Health and Preventive Medicine for funding and supporting this initiative. And for CAPHIA - Council of Academic Public Health Institutions Australasia providing us with the opportunity to be involved! And to all of our Season 1 guests whose episodes have been/will be released over the coming weeks. This absolutely could not have happened without you. Micaela Drieberg, Lauren Pearson, Divya Krishnan, Mitchell Bowden, and Lauren Richardson we loved hearing your stories and hope others do too! And lastly a shoutout to Jazmin Harrop, our amazing podcast editor and guest host pictured here with Kirsten and I.

As a global health practitioner (with graduation around the corner), I am excited to share that I successfully presented my capstone, the culminating project of my MPH program, to my colleagues at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. In collaboration with Primeros Pasos, a local NGO in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala that addresses child malnutrition within the Palajunoj Valley, my capstone is a multisite mixed-methods pilot study that is exploring dietary practices and food purchasing behaviors among fathers in the Western Highlands. By investigating barriers to paternal engagement in child malnutrition alleviation, my capstone aims to: ?? Enhance programmatic interventions at Primeros Pasos ?? Expand awareness of child malnutrition ???? Increase paternal participation in health initiatives in rural Guatemala Delving into global health research and practice over the past two years has been enriching, challenging, and rewarding. With the support of the This Is Public Health Global Grant through the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH), my capstone truly encapsulates the knowledge and skills that I developed in community-engaged research, capacity building, program evaluation, and public health consulting. I am forever grateful for the support of my professors, mentors, and colleagues who have guided me along the way. As I continue to grow professionally, I am committed to advocating for indigenous-centered health practices and research, thus utilizing health equity as a vehicle for social justice.
