Communication and Understanding in Mountain Biking Why Positive Communication in Mountain Biking is Crucial Presented during the keynote "4 pillars of a MTB strategy for Austria" at the IMBA Europe Summit, the first pillar, Communication, emphasizes the importance of positively portraying mountain biking. Our goal is to reshape the public image of mountain bikers, persuading the wider public that mountain bikers are responsible nature enthusiasts, differing from other outdoor adventurers only in their mode of transportation. Through targeted communication strategies, we aim to foster a more accurate understanding and greater acceptance of the sport among the general public and landowners alike. Additionally, we want to highlight the numerous benefits that collaborating with mountain bikers can bring to landowners. By establishing designated contract trails, we create a structured, safe environment that not only protects the land but also involves its owners actively in the design and utilization, making them valued partners in mountain biking. Uniform Standards for Mountain Biking in Austria During the IMBA Europe Summit, the keynote "4 pillars of a MTB strategy for Austria" highlighted that uniform standards are essential for fostering and unifying the development of mountain biking across Austria. This pillar, "Standards", aims to simplify and make transparent the processes of contract negotiations, classifications, and signage for all stakeholders. Integration of strategic concepts for land use planning: A key part of our strategy includes a well-thought-out concept for land use planning, aligning recreational use with ecological and climatic conditions. Opening hours and usage rights are coordinated in close collaboration with local stakeholders to ensure nature conservation and meet the needs of mountain bikers. Partnerships to promote research and development: We are establishing active partnerships with universities and colleges of applied sciences, as well as other stakeholders, to initiate necessary studies in the DACH region. These collaborations are crucial for supporting data-driven decisions and sustainably improving our infrastructure. Would you cycle on this street? ???? We tend to look to the Netherlands for cycling infrastructure inspo, but did you know that cities in the Netherlands don’t have bike lanes on every street? They’ve created a comprehensive network that prioritizes cyclist safety and convenience. Miami could adapt this strategy by focusing on developing protected bike lanes on main roads, implementing traffic calming measures in residential areas, and creating dedicated bike paths that connect different parts of the city. Given Miami’s warm climate and flat terrain, it has great potential for cycling, but currently lacks the infrastructure to make it safe and appealing. By implementing a mix of dedicated lanes, shared streets, and bicycle highways similar to the Dutch model, Miami could transform into a more cyclist-friendly city! This would not only improve mobility options but also contribute to reducing traffic congestion and promoting a healthier, more sustainable urban environment. ?? #miamicycling #cycling #miami

Infrastructure Having a separated cycle path network is one of the conditions for using Your speedpedelec. The next is the right to actually use it as in the Netherlands it is forbidden in the urban area. Or in Germany all cycle paths are a no-go. Things have to change!
