My (brief) views on AI I studied 3D design and games technology for one year at Noroff Vocational College (online), and left it richer in competence and skill. However, I have a rational fear that my competence may be jeapordised...by AI. At the time of writing, my experience working with clients in this field is minimal - in fact it's non-existent. I hope to change that, but I'm also prepared for a major downfall over the next few years. Let me explain. Since the primary rise of AI in the pandemic with technologies such as MidJourney, the writing on the wall has become much clearer for anyone who are doing any kind of art - the AI is coming for our jobs, securing us an uncertain future. AI's abilities, albeit impressive, scare me beyond comprehension - but I do not think all hope is lost. People at the lower levels - hobbyists who just want to "make something cool" will happily use AI without batting an eye. I don't like it, but I can understand it. However, I think established companies have a much better sense of what it means for us artists to get the job. Humans can replicate emotions, we can tell a story, and we can improve with constructive feedback. The AI only goes so far. Utilizing AI may be cheaper and more efficient from a time perspective alone. Why pay someone to do the job in a week when the AI can do the job for free in mere minutes, if not seconds? Because the human can and will perfect the design, and will be able to take every feedback message into consideration - an AI can't really do that. I'm not gonna spend more time on this, since I'm sure thousands, if not millions of people have already expressed their concerns. My conclusion is this: AI is cool, and can be a neat tool, but it will never compete with the human brilliance. -HM

But for final pieces, add a human touch for originality and emotion. Customer Service AI chatbots efficiently handle simple inquiries. But for complex issues, customers prefer human empathy and tailored solutions. The key is finding the right balance between AI and human intelligence and emotional intelligence. Second, those who have adopted AI often use it uncritically, sometimes even taking its output as absolute truth. However, I believe AI should be viewed as an assistant or a creative sounding board. When you have an idea that isn't quite taking shape as you'd like, AI can help you refine it. Or when you're experiencing a creative block, AI can provide inspiration. For example, if you need poster designs or marketing content, AI can generate ideas and artwork. While these might not be perfectly accurate, they offer a solid starting point for your creative process. The key point is that AI is not the enemy of creatives, it's an assistant. Importantly, AI cannot work independently; it requires human creativity. What AI produces will always lack the essential human element that makes art resonate with people. It simply cannot replicate the nuanced personality and emotional depth that humans bring to creative work. My advice? Embrace AI. It won't replace your job.
