Recently, we worked with Innovate78 a partnership between the cities of City of Carlsbad, City of Escondido, City of Oceanside, City of San Marcos, CA and City of Vista to support regional economic development collaboration. A big area of focus was promoting innovative #startups and #smallbusinesses. Known to be disruptors, inventors, makers and doers, we know we are in good company as a small business, especially in North San Diego County. This year’s Michigan Tech Week was a powerful reminder of Michigan's strength in innovation and entrepreneurship! ?? Serial Innovators & Entrepreneurs Panel: We heard from incredible serial entrepreneurs Jen Baird (Culturewell), Sergio Rodriguez, and Raffaele Mautone (Judy Security). They shared the highs, lows, and lessons learned through roles as founders, C-suite execs, investors, and co-founders in the innovation space. Saving Hearts & Lives Panel, One Start-up at A Time: Health tech innovators Lisa McLaughlin (Workit Health), Anthony Chang, PhD (BAMF Health), and Mike Klein (Genomenon, Inc) showcased how their groundbreaking work in healthcare technology is directly saving lives and transforming care. Ask Me Anything Panel: Robert W. (Moosejaw Mountaineering, Zeck) shared insights on building companies rooted in Michigan, while Sara Chen (Pangoo Apparel) discussed breaking barriers for women building in the outdoor industry. Jakob Nielsen _____ Your perspective and way of thinking opened up so many different ways to embark the greatest journey of all times; to figure out who we really are and & what we were meant to do in this lifetime. We were sent to this Earth with an intent, mission & purpose. Of that I am certain of. _____ And for someone who is so experienced as you are, in combination, with a pure heart made all your sharing worthwhile, profound and special. It made me feel that my path is, just as valuable, as any other way to go about things. _____ And for every unfolding and interaction with others over the past years, it becomes very clear that I am on the right path. My place is behind the scenes. This is where I belong. I am at use for others to shine bright like a diamond. To be a part of a group, a team, community has come to be the last missing piece in life to make it complete in terms of balance, well-being, personal growth and not to mention an abundance of creative outlet. _____ The things we are able to do together outweigh everything we are able to do individually. On the 24th of August, the 2nd edition of the Bonfire Festival set the flames of innovation alight. With the support of University of Queensland Innovation and Entrepreneurship Society (UQIES) and Stefi Stan , I directed the largest university-focused startup conference in Australia. ?? 170+ tickets sold ?? 40+ speakers ?? 1 day of serious impact Two quotes that became my mantra over the last 9 months of preparation. 1. "It takes a village to build an entrepreneur." In order to support innovation and continue to water its seeds, we need to pass down generational knowledge, sharing the lessons from failure and stories of success. It is a collaborative effort, where you will find the most development from the insights of someone on a completely different path to you. 2. "You have to bet on a horse." If you are going to do something, you must give it your all. To truly create impact, you will have to be willing to risk more than most will. A massive thank you to my co-collaborator and friend Stefi. The calibre of impact we were able to bring to the Queensland ecosystem would not have been possible without her.
