The last 3 years have been the best and wildest of my life. I had the privilege of working directly on the rocket that will take humanity to other planets, at a company town where the Factory, beer garden, and my pillow were a 5-minute walk apart. I'm extremely grateful for this time and feel like I won the mentor / friend lottery while I was here. For anyone interested in full-contact engineering, I can't recommend Starbase and the Starship program enough. A few reflections: 1. Go fast - 'long is wrong' 2. The responsible engineer model (as opposed to PM's), where a single engineer is accountable to an outcome, really unlocks: extreme ownership, minimal latency, and greater understanding of the problem 3. Scope rocks - engineers want to help the mission, and delivered scope = impact 4. Be a 'person who cares' (in the words of one of my managers) - success happens because every link in the chain cares about the outcome The decision to leave was not an easy one, but with it I'll be moving back to Northeast Ohio to be closer to family, renovating a home, and getting myself involved in the area's manufacturing scene. Ad astra!

? Wrapping up my second week at Lattice, and I’m cheesin' hard, feeling grateful and eager for what’s ahead ? Spending in-person time with the marketing team this week has shown me just how talented, resilient, and supportive everyone is, they are truly an amazing group of humans! As with any new job, there were numerous factors that went into my decision to join Lattice. In true marketing fashion, I’ve summed it up with an alliteration. My 3?? P’s for why I chose to join: ? People — I thrive when surrounded by individuals who motivate, challenge, collaborate, and support one another. Reflecting on this week’s 1:1s, coffee chats, and brainstorms, it’s clear that I’ve hit the jackpot. The energy and dedication of this team and beyond are truly remarkable. ? Product — Using Lattice products daily has been a game changer. These tools not only enhance everyone’s job performance, whether in customer service, sales, marketing, or engineering, but also let us firsthand experience the value we bring to our customers. ? Potential — Both career and company potential were important to me. I sought an environment where I could be strategic, become a subject matter expert, and grow alongside a company pushing the boundaries. The opportunities for growth seem endless as Lattice is at a point of inflection as they redefine the industry. Lastly, I get to work alongside someone I’ve long admired for her mentorship, work ethic, and the amazing person she is inside and out. I had no idea what to expect from this evening, it initially caught me off-guard… but I thoroughly enjoyed it! Thanks Barry Cranford (of RecWorks Ltd fame) for putting together tonight’s Unconference, and enlisting me to be a Chief Marshall, I feel it could be my second calling. For the uninitiated, an unconference is an event where you - THE PEOPLE - decide what to talk about. A fun, informal event with plenty of thought-provoking discussions and takeaways. Did anyone else watch the Blue Angels this weekend?? I'm embarrassed to admit that I'm a San Diego native and I've never watched the whole air show. I caught glimpses of it and heard it fly above my childhood home in Tierrasanta. I've seen bits while driving (safely) on the 15 freeway. But that's the extent of it. This weekend my family and I went to a park where the view of the Blue Angels was said to be amazing. This park did not disappoint! The jets flew over so close we could read the markings on the planes. I think my jaw dropped every other minute and I said “WOW” in awe a thousand times! I was inspired to watch their documentary on Netflix. It gave me an appreciation for the immense talent and dedication, not to mention the incredible precision, teamwork and trust it takes to fly together like they do. 18 inches. They fly 18 inches apart when flying in formation! Those powerful jets, flying at warp speeds of 700 mph! It’s hard for me to even wrap my brain around what it takes to be Blue Angel. Their precision, speed, and seamless coordination are a testament to the power of teamwork. Each pilot trusts their teammates completely, knowing that every maneuver relies on flawless execution and communication. It got me thinking about the work I do and what lessons from this elite team I can apply to my own life to be better. In business, especially in partnerships, we can learn a lot from the Blue Angels. Just like these elite pilots, successful partnerships require: Trust: Building a foundation where each partner can rely on the other. Clear Communication: Ensuring that all parties are on the same page and working towards a common goal. Shared Values: Aligning on core principles and objectives to drive mutual success.
