The future of customer experience for multi-location businesses is coming at us fast! I couldn't be happier for the team at Momos. It's been a joy to work and play with you Sai Alluri Andrew Liu Grant Oliveira Fahim Kadhi Leland Tran. When Covid hit, everything went online. Businesses which used to rely on traditional means of advertising (media), reputation (word of mouth), and service (phone) increasingly had to become digital natives almost overnight. Those who couldn't adapt perished. Our belief is that traditional software companies don't serve this user. They are too complex and not delivering value with AI. Momos extends the capabilities of staff by 2-3x with automation, but they also increase customer satisfaction and revenue though AI review management, advanced customer feedback mechanisms, AI generated campaigns and deep analytics into customer sentiment and retention. ?? I am so excited to announce that Momos has raised $10 million for its Series A, bringing our total funding to $17 million! ?? This is a huge milestone for us, and I can’t thank our team, our customers, partners, friends and family enough. The old VC mantra of "go big or go home" is broken. My take: Bigger isn't always better when it comes to funding your business. And I'm putting my money where my mouth is... At OpenSky Ventures, we're the pre-seed investors who are focused on finding the disruptive founders building the next generation of innovative commerce startups. We've funded 15 companies over the last 16 months from $100k to $250k check sizes. We're operators with experience who have both successfully exited. We don't care if you want to exit for $50m or $500m as long as our cost-basis is aligned and we have a 10x upside potential. We know that the startup world is constantly pushing this narrative that massive funding rounds and hyper-growth are the holy grail. But from our experience as pre-seed investors, excessive dilution can seriously impact your long-term ownership and potential rewards. Let's look at the numbers. If you raise $100 million to achieve a $500 million exit, it's likely to come with restrictions and preferences that seriously hinder your exit potential. Your slice of the pie ends up being much smaller than if you had taken a more targeted pre-seed round from a VC and then nailed a $100 million exit without giving up tons of equity. This approach may sound counterintuitive (especially given the 'unicorn or bust' narrative that's been pervasive lately), but in many cases, a smaller, more focused strategy can actually lead to a more rewarding long-term outcome--for both founders and investors. In fact, I ran a similar playbook when scaling StackCommerce. We took a small funding round early on, then scaled from there. I call it "seed-strapping." One of our portcos, Levanata, is running a similar play (check out my post on their growth for a deep dive). I'll leave you with this. One of my goals in getting into venture capital is to empower founders to scale their businesses while holding onto the ownership they deserve. Zepto, a Quick commerce company, has secured $665 million in its Series F funding round from new investors Avenir, Lightspeed, and Avra (Anu Hariharan’s new fund), among others. Some of the existing investors Glade Brook Capital Partners LLC, Nexus, and StepStone co-led the round with Goodwater and Lachy Groom doubling down their stakes as well. As per the startup, the funding will be used to compete with two other deep-pocketed players, BlinkIt and Swiggy Instamart. Unlike the West, quick commerce operators in India claim to have found a sustainable model. Founded by Stanford dropouts Aadit Palicha and Kaivalya V., who founded Zepto in 2021, have secured backing from existing investors led by Glade Brook Capital, StepStone Group, and Nexus Venture Partners. Redo is coming out of stealth today. With it comes several announcements I’ve been waiting for two years to talk about. There are 3 thoughts that I’d love to share. 1. Tay Brown is one of the most inspiring founders I have ever worked with. Taylor is a serial entrepreneur who has started over 10 different companies, including 6 that have done over $1M in revenue and 3 that have been acquired. Prior to Redo, he and his wife started ACTA,? a DTC brand that reached $10s of millions in revenue and gave him the inspiration for Redo. After he sold ACTA, he started Redo to solve the pains he experienced as an e-commerce merchant. The first product at Redo focused on returns. He bootstrapped Redo until July of 2022 when Pelion led the Seed round. For the next several months, Taylor wandered in the wilderness of finding product market fit. By the middle of spring of 2023, Redo found its footing. Taylor recruited Paul Draper as CTO, Chris Schmidt as the first sales rep, Hannu Willey as the first customer success rep, and Eric Lepretre as the head of Finance. He set the foundation of what Redo has become today. Last May, Sterling Snow joined Pelion Venture Partners as a Venture Partner. After joining I connected Sterling with Taylor, to have him be an advisor to Redo. Within a few days, Sterling was spending most of his time in Redo’s office helping Taylor build. Taylor instantly knew how special of a builder Sterling was. After a few months of building Redo side by side, Taylor asked Sterling to be the CEO of Redo. Taylor knew what that meant for him: Sterling would need full control of the business, a stock grant that was equivalent to a founder grant, and Taylor would step into a Board member role vs. a day-to-day company executive. Taylor, always putting the business first, and knowing this was the right thing to do, did what he needed to do to get Sterling in as CEO. Taylor is the most selfless founder I have ever met. 2. Sterling Snow is the best operator, leader, strategist, and entrepreneur I know. I worked with him when he ran Revenue at Divvy, where he grew Divvy's revenue run rate from $400K annually to over $400m annually in 5 years. Since Bill.com acquired Divvy for $2.5B, I have wanted to back Sterling in whatever he did next. Sterling’s leadership makes him special; people who work with Sterling maximize their potential, are inspired, hustle, grind, and will outwork anyone. The operational excellence that Sterling has brought to Redo is exceptional, resulting in it being the fastest-growing company (at its scale) we have ever invested in. It took longer than I thought, but I am blessed to work with Sterling and be on his board. 3. Susannah Duke was introduced to Taylor, had conviction first, led the seed and series A rounds for Pelion, and has now joined Redo as a GM. Her conviction, support, and help have been invaluable to Redo and Pelion. I’m so lucky to work with Suz and can’t wait to see what she builds at Redo. LFG Redo.

Money Founders made after IPO.. Over a startup's life, founder equity is incredibly important. It guarantees both the right incentives are in place for founders to remain and that they get a fair payout in the case of a successful exit. 71 public enterprises with founder ownership at IPO are listed here??.
