Last week was our annual Turkey Bowl celebration. Nearly 15 years ago one of our NCSA College Recruiting member support reps suggested that we have a flag football game. I thought it was a great idea, so we did. The Turkey Bowl was born. In the many years since, we’ve grown from 2 teams to 10. We’ve incorporated softball, bowling, kickball, e-sports, scavenger hunts, trivia, dodgeball, and even a Kids Korner for the next generation to represent. We’ve grown and acquired companies and been acquired again and again. We became a remote first organizational and then a fully remote organization and now we also have a full team in Bradenton, FL. We’ve competed on Chicago's Lincoln Park fields and in our living rooms, and some years a combination of both. We’ve raised many thousands of dollars for charities, while also playing for pride and bragging rights. The NCSA College Recruiting Turkey Bowl is now the IMG Academy Turkey Bowl and I could not be more proud. Top 5* things I’ve learned along the way. 1. Interacting with teammates outside the day-to-day grind of work is priceless. 2. It doesn’t have to be perfect to be impactful - some of my favorite turkey bowl moments have been virtual and when we’ve had to call Plan B 3. Feeling part of something matters and great people create great experiences. That's you Karissa B., John Ludlam, Luis Cortell, Anne Gloden, Matt Roe, Hannah Schilling, Andrew Wojciechowicz; Ned Colleran; Pat O'Malley, Aubrey Sands, Shea Yates and many more! 4. Remote work has its challenges, but with the right intentionality and spirit, great culture and business results are very achievable 5. Competing is really fun 5*. Winning is even more fun. YLNI has active volunteer members that contribute their time and talents with each and every event that goes by. This week, we want to highlight Mike Weber, a volunteer with Team YLNI. ? Mike first got started with YLNI when he made a simple Google search about how he could get connected in Fort Wayne. When he found YLNI, he attended one of the General Membership Events, and the rest is history. Mike got connected with the Farmers Market where he would then serve for 7 years. From here, Mike joined Team YLNI where he soon became a captain for YLNI at the annual Dragon Boat Races. Team YLNI has expanded to organize and fundraise teams for the Big Brothers Big Sisters' Bowl for Kids' Sake and World Baseball Academy Wiffle Ball Spooktacular. Team YLNI also has an intramural team that gets together at Fair Play Volleyball. Mike is passionate about the people he works with through Team YLNI and the opportunity to inspire future generations. Mike writes, "I want to pass on the ability for Team YLNI to continue serving YLNI and the community. I also want the next generation of leaders to realize that with a vision and some grit they can make incredible contributions to the community and world, even if they don't have it all figured out." ?? Fun Fact: If Mike could have a slogan for his life, it would be "Do or do not. There is no try." Mike goes on to explain, "if you are going to do something then you have to believe without a shred of doubt that you can succeed. Otherwise, you have failed before you even started." UC Irvine Athletics and Left Coast Brewing Company, in partnership with Anteater Sports Properties, have teamed up to release Anteater Lager — a new, co-branded craft beer. Anteater Lager is now available at Left Coast Brewing’s San Clemente and Irvine locations, as well as UCI’s Bren Events Center and Anteater Ballpark.

The event is June 6-8, but let's break that schedule down ?? It's officially a three-day event, but check out the breakdown of what each day looks like commitment-wise. Thursday, June 6 - Trivia Competition at Naked River Brewing Co. from 5-8 PM - You'll only need to send 5 people to represent the company, although you're welcome to bring more to cheerlead/support/have some drinks Friday, June 7 - Bowling Competition at Spare Time from 12:30 PM - 4:30 PM - You'll send 5-10 people to represent the company on the bowling team. You can pick a time from 12:30 PM - 4:30 PM to stop by, whatever your team prefers. Saturday, June 8 - The Field Day Event at Finley Stadium and First Horizon Pavilion - Officially 7:30 AM - 4 PM - This is the day you want the entire company to come out. It's way more fun if you have everyone come out and stay/tailgate all day, but if you have employees who need to pop in and out, they are welcome to. Corporate Challenge is flexible so people can still participate even if they can't stay all day. It's also family-friendly - families are more than welcome to come out and support, although they cannot physically participate in the challenges.

Hitting those targets!!! Last month, I found myself holding a frisbee at the Compleo UK stand at the Transport + Energy Forum, eyeing a target. Not an easy one — small, distant, and surrounded by failed attempts. Everyone before me had missed. All year long. But on my turn, I landed it perfectly. Bullseye. Now, I’m the King of the Frisbees. ?? It got me thinking about the parallels in life and recruitment: The Target: Whether it’s hiring the perfect candidate, achieving a career milestone, or nailing a business goal, the target often seems just out of reach. The Throw: Preparation, skill, and a little bit of risk are what give you a shot. You won’t always hit, but every miss teaches you something. The Moment of Impact: That feeling when everything aligns — effort meets opportunity, and you hit your bullseye — is unmatched. In recruitment, the ‘target’ is always evolving: finding the perfect candidate for a niche role, matching someone’s dream job, or solving workforce challenges in sectors driving us towards Net Zero. It’s not always the first throw that lands, but when it does, the impact is huge. So whether you’re holding a frisbee or a business plan today, remember: Keep aiming. Keep throwing.
