The Higley Unified School District Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program, which started in 2019, helps HUSD seniors gearing up for college or other technical education, to get practical training in various fields of their choosing and provides them with academic guidance for their higher education. Overall, Higley CTE students earned more than 500 industry certifications in the last year, with 96.3% of students earning at least one certification. We are looking for school districts that might wish to participate in?Project ENGAGE, this recently funded mid-phase EIR study to develop and test a scaling model for a PD program called CARE that has been shown in previous research to promote teacher wellbeing, improve the quality of classroom interactions, and improve student engagement, motivation and reading competence. Based on this research, the?CDC recently recommended CARE?for school staff wellbeing. ? Due to the delays in the approval of the federal budget last year, we got a late start which has made it difficult to find districts that have schools available for our 2024-25 pilot year. At this point, we need 2 or 3 schools from the same district to help us pilot scaling strategies for CARE. This requires two full days of PD at the beginning of the school year. With start dates moving up, this has created even more challenges. This PD would be available free to participating partners, an approximately $50K value per school. District partners would be elegible to participate in the entire study over the 2025-26 - 27 school years. Spread the word please! Pendarvis Ben Chris McNutt Nick Covington

This week has been particularly busy Tees Valley Education in our #research and #development teams. Busy is fine, especially if it enables us to continue to grow and be curious as an organisation. When I was mainly classroom based as an educator I used to have a habit of phoning three families each week. This would be to call out pupils that had done something which positively stood out; 'catching them getting it right' (rather than calling home with a negative...) So, this week I'm using my #FridayThree to call out three individuals in the sector that enabled me and my teams to grow and develop this week. (1) John Smith Royal Grammar School Newcastle for their constant collaboration and ability to be gracious disruptors alongside us. The #NorthEast education sector is richer for them. Thanks John! (2) Stuart Kime FCCT for enabling me and my team to be more curious! Stuart and the Evidence Based Education team have a real talent for helping teams to continue to grow and think beyond the immediacy of day-to-day fire fighting in education. Thanks Stuart! (and Robert Coe of course!) (3) SHINE Trust for various sessions of late, but especially the #ActionLearning sessions this week and the other colleagues that contributed to it. SHINE enables leaders like me to take a step back from the 'doing' and to consider the 'thinking'. The collaboration with them is brilliant.
