As a management team, we believe that the success of our company and Thuringia as a business location as well as the jobs of every single person in the region are at risk. As an internationally active family business, it is therefore time for us to show courage and take a clear stance on the current situation. In our company policy, the “M” in MKT stands first and foremost for human beings (="Mensch" in German) and respectful cooperation. We consciously encourage and promote the diversity of different cultures and see cooperation with people of different world views and cultural backgrounds as an enrichment. We strive to integrate people with a migration background into our company and offer them a secure job. We sensitize and train our employees, work together hand in hand, learn from each other and see the individual person. It is important to us that people who work with us feel accepted and comfortable. That is why we do not tolerate xenophobia! For us, everyone’s individuality is a sign of strength and we see diversity as an opportunity to grow beyond ourselves. Thanks to our branch offices in France and North America and close cooperation with our sales representatives in Poland, Italy, Lithuania, Australia and Latin America, we export our products all over the world. People from 9 different countries work closely together as colleagues in our production halls and administration at the Ohrdruf sites. This makes up almost 20% of the total workforce, without whom we would not be able to maintain production. Every day, we treat our employees, business partners and customers with respect and acceptance, regardless of their origin. For us, this is a basic prerequisite for successful cooperations and joint growth. Unfortunately, there are groups of persons in this country that try to exclude people. We clearly distance ourselves from any form of discrimination, hatred, exclusion and other extreme ideas. We therefore see it as our duty to raise our voices and appeal for more altruism and tolerance. We want to strengthen social cohesion and, as an open-minded company, advocate a free society. Let us therefore stand up together for peaceful coexistence and focus on humanity. Yesterday I have had the pleasure to attend WeGlad Jun partners' call and cannot tell enough how inspirational it has been! They say 3 is the perfect number so here my 3 takeaways from yesterday: 1) At the base of each company-client interaction there are HUMAN BEINGS so inclusion is a basic element of strategy, the days when it could have been considered a nice to have are over. We are human beings, so everything human involves us (to quote Latin poet Terentius "Homo sum, humani nihil a me alienum puto") 2) Inclusion is a winning business strategy, making retail more accessible benefits the consumer, but creates also a new market so far almost totally overlooked 3) Inclusion is finally taking its deserved place in EU and governments' agenda: only when public and private sector work hand in hand we can change society The coming months look promising, stay tuned ??

As a DEI champion and facilitator, I couldn't agree more with the saying "if two people walk together and agree on everything, one is unnecessary." This motto perfectly summarizes the importance of embracing diversity of thought, culture, ethnicity, experience, and so much more in both business and life. I came across a newly published editorial in SIA News that delves deeper into the value of diversity, equity, and inclusion. The article emphasizes that the idea of DE&I being dead is a greatly exaggerated notion. Instead, it highlights the need for companies to embrace DE&I and make it an integral part of their business strategy.
