A few simple interventions boosted flu vaccine uptake for patients waiting at the emergency department [ED], according to the cluster-randomized, controlled PROFLUVAXED trial. [MedPage today] People in ED waiting areas who consented to view a 3-minute video with a scripted message, read a one-page flyer, and have a short discussion with an ED clinician about the flu vaccine had a 30-day follow-up vaccination rate of 41% versus 15% among patients that received no messaging about the vaccine. NGOs SEEKING TO HALT VACCINE PROGRAMME HAVE NO RIGHT TO DENY OTHERS THE RIGHT TO ACCESS HEALTHCARE Three NGOs, Covid Core Alliance, Transformative Health Justice and Free the Children – Save the Nation, sought an order compelling the government to cease and desist from making available COVID-19 vaccines, claiming “strange and unusual medical conditions” and unexplained changes in blood structure in otherwise healthy patients who had been vaccinated. Davis J found that the harm claimed by the applicants had not been established and even if it did exist, the benefits of the vaccines far outweigh the extremely rare instances of adverse events. The judge expressed doubts about the qualifications and knowledge of the experts relied on by the applicants, the factual bases for their conclusions, and their research methodology. The judge stated that the applicants had no right to deny others from exercising their rights of access to health care and bodily integrity, which would be the effect of granting the relief sought. The manufacturer of the Covishield vaccination for the COVID-19 pandemic, AstraZeneca, has acknowledged that there may be adverse consequences from the shot. Parents should indeed do their research and never trust Physicians for Informed Consent on any of their claims. In this case, trust the Cochrane Review attached that TOTALLY contradicts the claims of Physicians for Informed Consent about any link of autoimmune disease and the varicella vaccine. 138 studies with more than 23 million children. Fifty-one studies (10 million children) assessed how effective the vaccines were at preventing the diseases, and 87 studies (13 million children) assessed unwanted effects. In this 2020 update we have included 74 new studies published since 2012. And it clearly shows that Physicians for Informed Consent are lying to you as there is no link whatsoever between varicella vaccine and any autoimmune diseases. Covid-19 continues to claim around 1,700 lives weekly worldwide, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). WHO Director-General, highlighted the worrying decline in vaccine coverage, particularly among health workers and people over 60, who are at high risk. Despite the official end of Covid-19 as an international public health emergency in May 2023, the WHO urges ongoing vigilance, including maintaining virus surveillance, ensuring access to affordable tests, treatments, and vaccines, and encouraging at-risk populations to stay updated on vaccinations. In a way we're all pandemic historians with #Covid19, and will remember the emergence of novel strains such as Delta and Omicron, as well as the havoc that was caused. What's fascinating about Covid-19 is the pace at which novel virus strains continue to cannibalise one another - making those major concerns of the past a near obsolete worry. Each strain will be slightly different from the next, so it's right not to forget Covid-19 is with us, evolving, but crucially the impact can be mitigated with vaccination and timely treatment. Thankfully Moderna and Pfizer have taken up the challenge set by the #FDA to evolve the mRNA vaccines to target the JN.2 strains, and Novavax will continue to develop its Matrix-M? adjuvant technology for the JN.1 strain.
