We therefore believe the most likely outcome of the election is either a red sweep, where Republicans win the presidency and control both chambers of Congress, or a split government, where Democrats win the presidency and the lower chamber of Congress

With the election over, and a sea of red taking over all three forms of government, what are the implications for investors? Read Mona Mahajan's commentary below:

Our country’s election was earlier this week and opinions, emotions, criticisms, Monday morning quarter-backing, and more flood the airwaves. Some people are happy, some surprised, some devastated and some on other points of the emotional spectrum. If you’re like me, I could benefit by setting aside the noise, commentary, and interpretations and instead focus on being in a state of calm. Time to focus on my center point. To honor my own agency in which I honor my internal compass that allows me to be steady no matter the noise of what’s happening around me. This made me think of the 5-Finger-Breathing-Technique. You can see it in action in the video or read the steps below. ?? You’ll use the index finger of one hand to trace the fingers of the other hand while you inhale and exhale and pause in between. ?? Hold one hand in front of you with your fingers stretched out. ?? With the index finger of your other hand, trace up the outside of your thumb on your outstretched hand while inhaling. ?? When you reach the tip of your thumb, pause and then exhale as you trace the inside of your thumb. When you reach the base, pause again. ?? Then trace the outside of your index finger while inhaling. When you reach the tip of the finger pause. Then exhale as you trace the inside of your index finger. When you reach the base, pause. ?? Continue until you’ve traced all five of your fingers. ?? You can try closing your eyes while you do this, too. I hope on as we reach the end of the week following our elections that you find Five- Finger-Breathing to be a calming practice.

In every election, there are clear differences between the Democratic and Republican parties on about every issue. These differences have been amplified by continued partisanship and then ramped up on steroids by social and traditional media echo chambers. As a result, there is little common ground to be found on the key issues facing the nation.
