Despite their success, many Black-owned businesses face significant challenges in securing funding and resources. Supporting these businesses is crucial not only for economic growth but also for community well-being. Black-owned businesses often serve as community pillars, fostering local development and creating jobs. By championing Black-owned businesses, we contribute to breaking down financial barriers and fostering equitable opportunities. This support is vital for strengthening community health and resilience, ensuring that everyone has the chance to thrive. This National Black Business Month, let's recognize and support the invaluable contributions of Black-owned businesses to both our economy and our communities.

My comment for today. I am reading a book called Fifteen Cents on the Dollat by Louise Story and Ebony Reed. What continues to be pertinent is the fact that we cannot expect as black people to say we are anti capitalism if we continue to replicate their practices. Right now we are in the midst of seeing groups of Black organizations doing their good and due diligence in helping black farmers and black businesses with capital . As the co founder of Black Farmer Fund I am proud of what we have done so far. However we must not fall into the trap of supporting and funding only the big farms and big businesses and neglecting the smalls farms and businesses. By doing so we are replicating a system we claim we are against. We should NEVER think that success is based on doling out millions of dollars to a small group of people while the majority of people are still struggling. We must check our values, morals, vision and mission to make sure we are truly doing what we set out to do:: Providing black farmers and black businesses with economic support due to the inequity in wealth and discriminatory practices of banks in the past. Let’s make sure that all can benefit regardless of size. My two cents, MamaK

Is your financial future spastic in the red or never in the black? Let’s March to a better history by planning our future. Body-Mind-Spirit are stronger when we have a strategy and plan. Works in finances. Works in love. Works in reality.

The reason why black CEOs are underfunded is because of a lack of trust. This is what I was told recently, and in all honesty, did it shock me? Of course not. It makes me laugh actually. The person then went on to further say that it’s because funders don’t trust that we will be able to manage the money effectively, there is a fear of fraud, etc. It’s funny, but yet very incorrect and unfair that many black people are painted with the same, wrong brush. There are amazing organisations led by black people who are more than capable of leading their companies to success, however they need the support. They need the funding, investment, and capital. I’ve heard great stories, where a black person for example at work had a manager who believed in them and took a risk on them when no one else was willing to, and then that black person ended up succeeding and generating so much more revenue for the business. The same applies here, for black founders and CEOs. If funders, investors and sponsors don’t bank on us or take a risk with us, then you’ll never know what you’re missing out on. As the saying goes - no risk no reward, right? Lastly, if you know we need support with managing finances, then provide us with the support :) Thoughts?????
