Most things in business follow the 80:20 rule. But PR breaks the rule. In PR, you need to focus on the 80%. In PR, 80% of the work is about working with clients: - Clients want fresh ideas - Clients need strategic guidance - Clients require training - Clients need clear, realistic expectations - Clients demand flawless execution that aligns with those expectations The other 20%? That’s about external stakeholders like the media. Yet, many in the industry focus solely on that 20%. Real PR success hinges on mastering the 80%. Engage, align, and collaborate—that’s where the magic happens.

One of the things that always baffled me during my time in Public Relations was thought leadership for the Founders and Senior Execs. It is one of the ironical things I have experienced. A founder telling their corporate communications team or PR agency to write a detailed post on time management, but they themselves can't find 15 minutes to write their own thoughts on LinkedIn? ?? No one can articulate your thoughts that way you can. Let that thought which you put out be controversial or brilliant or even gramatically incorrect. But at least it's you. Thought leadership is supposed to be about showcasing authenticity. Making someone else write your thoughts negates that very ideal. #thoughtleadership #publicrelations #irony
