What is the value of ”Take Your Daughter to Work Day? We think it is education and empathy, so the child knows what the parent does daily, but it is so much more. It instills lifelong work values. Meahgan Gibson attended a “Take Your Daughter to Work Day” at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.?To this day she reminds me of a few choice words I stated during a staff meeting but she also pursued a career in Leisure and Hospitality. More importantly she picked up values like; everybody is critical to success (especially the lowest paid hourly associates), every person has a story, treat people with dignity and respect, and if they have a name tag, user their name. Grow by trying new things that others shy away from. Powerful words are “thank you” and “can you help me”, and assisting others even if you do not have time. ?Today this was in my feed. I had no idea she was working on this. ?Biscuits and socks, who knew? But more importantly, a young professional (from a generation many professionals belittle) leading a project that reflects well on the brand and does good for the community.?Also hats off to Dennis Pfaff, Maple Street Biscuit Company and Cracker Barrel for creating an organization culture where young professional growth occurs. Take your daughter to work and as a leader, your relationships matter more than you know.?#cio #leadership
TLDR: I've been working on something pretty cool! "The Maple Street Mantra: Help People, Serve Others, Be A Part Of The Community" is why I joined the team. I'm grateful to Maple Street Biscuit Company for allowing me to take on something so near and dear to who we are. *Maple Street Silly Socks* a portion of sock sales will go directly to LifeQuest Organ Recovery Services and U.F. Health, supporting their incredible work to maximize the Gift of Life through organ and tissue donation. This is particularly meaningful because giving back has always been a big part of who I am. From working with the Miami Children's Initiative during my time at the University of Florida to my work with the Harrison County Community Foundation, I've seen firsthand the impact we can make when we come together. Your support means the world and will help create positive change in our community. P.S. The socks are pretty cool as well https://lnkd.in/gKJnfwB6

I have to believe in myself every morning because the children that count on me and believe in me don't take a break. I have to push myself beyond challenge and beyond excuses. The reason why I do what I do is to create a place at SOOFA Ranch where we can really change lives through working with horses. That’s why we’re building the Ride Strong Multi-Use Community Center – a place where children, veterans, and families can heal, grow, and thrive. But to make this vision a reality, we need your support. Our goal is simple: if 10,000 people commit to just $5 a month, we can raise the funds necessary to complete this vital project. Your contribution is not just a donation; it's an investment in a community space that will uplift countless lives through equine-assisted therapy and education. We’ve seen firsthand how horses can teach confidence, communication, and emotional resilience. Now, we need a dedicated space to expand these programs and reach even more individuals who need it the most. Every bit helps, and together, we can make this dream a reality. Let’s build this together. Will you be one of the 10,000 to Ride Strong with us? Sounds fun…
Our Houston Area volunteers teamed up with two of our Weatherford Walks charitable partners, Small Steps Nurturing Center and PTSD Foundation Of America, and dedicated their efforts to giving back to the local community! The One Weatherford Team had a fantastic experience as they rolled up their sleeves, cleaning up classrooms at Small Steps and assisting with garden maintenance at Camp Hope. A big thank you to our volunteers who participated in these events, and to our charitable partners for hosting us. We are looking forward to Weatherford Walks 2024! #OneWeatherford #WeatherfordWalks #Community #Volunteer #GivingBack

Heartbreaking. ?? First, I want to commend Tara Cochrane and Shawna Pereira for their incredible products, built with love, passion, and always a smile. Thank you, ladies, for leading by example and lifting up women product makers. Your impact has reached far and wide in your communities over the years and I want to wish you all the best on your next journey. ???? Now, let me vent a bit. Despite years of support for women-owned businesses, our efforts fall short as Canadian women business owners are still being forced to close their doors. The current economic climate isn’t helping. Businesses are operating on razor-thin margins, holding out hope for a lifeline—while the government continues to funnel support to foreign companies without expecting anything in return. It's as if Canadian small businesses are invisible in the equation. Here's a straightforward solution I’ve advocated for repeatedly at events and in closed-door discussions with ministers and policymakers (who listen, nod, but rarely act ): ?? The simplest way to support Canadian businesses is by buying their products and services. Our government can, and should, open up supply chains to Canadian small businesses—the true backbone of our economy. Break down massive contracts into smaller, accessible opportunities and empower Canadian talent to lead the transformation our economy needs. By conditioning large investments with mandatory buy-local requirements, we can start a ripple effect that boosts our own communities and give Canadian women-owned businesses a fair shot. As the largest buyer in our nation, the Government of Canada holds immense power to create meaningful change for Canadian businesses. It’s time to go beyond lip service and take action that matters. I firmly believe in the incredible impact we can create when we unite behind a shared vision. Now, more than ever, we need champions who are willing to step up for Canadian women-owned businesses and open up the supply chains that will allow them to thrive. Together, we can make a lasting difference in our economy and our communities. Will you support this mission and champion having more products and services from Canadian women-owned businesses in supply chains? I love people that do cool sh*t, especially when it’s not just a money making idea! Check out my friend's new nonprofit, After Party! After Party repurposes wedding & event florals to bring joy to shelters, hospitals, hospice, & more. Let's help reduce waste & spread love! If you have any vases or containers to donate, please reach out to Nora McCormack! Here's to supporting this amazing initiative! ?????????????? ********************************** “HI FRIENDS! I don't think I've mentioned it here yet, but for the next phase of my ongoing midlife crisis, I have started a nonprofit! World, meet After Party! After Party is a 501c3 that repurposes wedding & event florals to be enjoyed at shelters, hospitals, hospice, & other like organizations. You know where all of those flowers end up after weddings? In the trash. After 17 years in the wedding industry, I've become tired of seeing that amount of waste so I figured I'd try to do something about it! Inquiries have been coming in pretty consistently, which is promising! With that, I am asking for vase/vessel donations so that I can keep costs down. Jars (clean spaghetti sauce jars, pickle, mason, any & all!), old vases, & glass containers that can be used as bedside vases would be SO wonderful! If you are able to collect, I would be happy to pick up! Other items that I will gladly accept: 5 gallon buckets, milk crates, glass racks, & plastic totes. The website is still under construction, but if you felt compelled to donate (tax deductible donations! Huzzah!), please follow the link below. https://lnkd.in/eZc5wA6C Thank you for supporting this next leg of my ongoing psychological break-- I hope it's as successful as the last one! ??????”

Raymond James Cares month took place in May. Associates banded together to make a huge impact. So proud to work for a company that gives back in such an intentional way. Borrowed from an article: Annually in May, Raymond James associates and advisors around the world team up and give back to the communities where we live and work. In 2024, more than 3,300 volunteers came together to serve over 8,300 hours toward the causes most near and dear to us. Our collective impact* 3,371?volunteers 8,315?hours 269?charitable organizations 120?communities 88,650?meals served and packed 10,514?pounds of food donated 12,216?in-kind items donated $544,256?in monetary donations 898?pounds of trash cleaned up Our roots run deep in volunteerism, and giving back to our communities is a key facet of the firm’s culture. This value is demonstrated by associates year-round, and especially each May. With nearly 270 charitable organizations supported across 120 communities in 2024, our impact was seen far and wide. Here’s a deeper look at a few of the causes our associates supported, and the resulting effects. #raymondjamescares
