Let’s talk about pink washing and Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This is the time of the year where every company is promoting breast cancer and while I absolutely support all the funds donated to research, education and supporting the community, pinkwashing is different. Pinkwashing is a term coined by @bcaction and it occurs when a company uses the pink ribbon ?? to market a product or service without meaningfully supporting breast cancer research or awareness. It also can mean using a pink ribbon to promote products that contain ingredients that are linked to breast cancer. (For example, when we see the pink ribbon on bottles of alcohol ??). As we get into October, I’ll share my top organizations to support if you are inclined but this is your reminder to #thinkbeforeyoupink - all year round and especially in October! Ask the questions about where the money is going and let’s get some more transparency! Today is World Cancer Day, and our thoughts are with everyone facing a diagnosis, our hearts go out to you and your loved ones. Today — and every day — we hope to create change for women navigating ovarian cancer. Why? Because early diagnosis is key to successful treatment. Our goal is to: ??
