What's the one thing I did early in my career that has paid off way more than I ever expected? ?? Meeting people. ?? Over the past 20+ years I have accumulated such an awesome network of people.??A ton were colleagues I worked with, others were just great folks I met along my journey. There was no grand plan behind this. No “build a big network Mitch, it’s gonna pay off huge for you!”. Just that I loved meeting other great people.? The reward was all in the experience of connecting with someone new.??Seeing how I could help them, and them me. ??Some turned into full on friendships. ?Others pop up every few years to say “Hi” (if I don’t do it first). And beyond that they support me with intros and referrals for my fractional CMO practice. 95% of all my business comes to me from my network.??Thank you, all of you ??. Anyway…. The point here is the biggest factor you have in building your network is time.? Start early, connect often, meet great people, give value, get value. It’s a gift that keeps on giving. P.s. shout out to Elana Schachter who I met earlier this year ?? who inspired this post. ?
I had the good fortune of having Mitch Solway meet with me shortly after I was born. Clearly, it came naturally to him:).
It's been an absolute pleasure to call you a friend for nearly a decade now Mitch, even though we worked together for less than a year ??
So happy we met along that journey.
I love this so much - it’s exactly right! I genuinely enjoy meeting new people. For me it’s all about connecting and helping others - it lights me up and am grateful to now have an incredible and supportive network as a result. ??
Yes! I feel the same. Networking sounds calculating but if I like your phrasing of “meeting people” - it reflects the spirit of curiosity and generosity that is both fun and rewarding.
You introduced me to one of my most important clients, who was instrumental in?shaping my practice into what it is today. More importantly, I value our friendship and your insight. All that from a networking meeting a few short years ago. I'm looking forward to seeing you tomorrow. Fore!
Your network is so key! This is how you create opportunities and it's just the perfect pool to discover different points of view and improve yourself. Glad to be part of yours ??
Hey Mitch. I agree 100 percent! I appreciated that you took the time to meet me a few years back. Everyone should do their best to try and meet people inside and outside their industry regularly. Keeps life interesting!!!
Amen Mitch Solway - don't underestimate the time required to do it purposefully. Don't underestimate the disproportionate impact it can have on your career...and your life in general. #networknetworth
