There's been a fair amount of media coverage of late related to how power-hungry AI models are, and relatedly the climate impact of building huge datacenters full of GPUs to power them. But - first off, not all AI models are alike re. power needs (e.g. predictive vs generative AI) and secondly, IT infrastructure designs such as Edge AI (and DePIN), can do much to address the "power needs" narrative. More on that from me to come. Also, there is no doubt that AI has a very useful role to play in the world of #ClimateTech and it's already is real life use for many projects. The Grand Challenge is designed to pull in further ideas for its use, especially for developing countries. It's hosted by a non-profit called the Enterprise Neurosystem (where I am a volunteer evangelist and advisor) and UN Climate Change. First prize includes a trip to Baku to present at COP29.
