In a recent discussion hosted by Carrie Sudbury, Hayley Koseoglu shared her insights on the upcoming general election and its potential impact on small businesses. In this interview Hayley emphasises the need for economic stability, highlighting the significant challenges small businesses have faced over the past five years due to COVID-19, the cost of living crisis, the energy crisis, and rising interest rates. Hayley pointed out that while government support for SMEs exists, it is poorly communicated and needs to be more inclusive to help all small businesses. She noted that none of the current manifestos offer clear, significant benefits for small business owners, making it difficult for voters to choose a party. Stressing the importance of voting, Hayley urged voters to focus on their local constituency candidates and the support they provide rather than the party leaders. She also mentioned a disconnect between businesses, the general public, and politics, partly due to the short time available to understand the manifestos. The discussion highlighted the need for better communication and comprehensive support for small businesses from the new government and the importance of informed voting based on local candidate contributions.
