This month’s coffee hour had a surprise guest—and no, we’re not talking about your usual four-legged companion! Eugene the Mule from Café Mulé trotted into the Idaho Outdoor Fieldhouse, bringing a little extra personality (and a lot of charm) to our morning. With his calm demeanor and an undeniable air of wisdom, Eugene reminded us to slow down, enjoy the moment, and, of course, savor every sip of Café Mule coffee. Thanks for making our day, Eugene! You’re welcome anytime ?? Don’t miss out on the next Coffee Hour ??? Bookmark the Mission43 Events page and visit it often! #cafemule #mission43 #coffee #onlyinidaho

Recently, Nicola Rothmann and I facilitated Global Creatures global conference at the Taronga Zoo. Global Creatures is a spectacular (like literally) theatre production company. You'll know them for the stage productions of Moulin Rouge, Strictly Ballroom, King Kong, How to Train Your Dragon to name a few. There are so many fabulous things to celebrate from this day; 1. The generosity of their Founder and leader Carmen Pavlovic. Flying people from around the world, putting them up in an incredible venue and then taking them out onto the harbour is an act of complete love and gratitude. 2. Asking everyone to contribute to their values and behaviours and owning them together - is how you create something magical. 3. How you are treated with kindness and open arms by everyone from Judy Fuccilli who leads people and culture to Julie N. who makes sure everything happens on time and perfectly. I can't name everyone as it will take up this feed but you are pure delights. And one of my absolute happy moments was chatting to the meerkats. I love this lil’ critter. Especially when they are from the most cohesive tribe in all the mammal kingdom. So much to learn about how they make it work. Being curious (what if that was our default when opposition comes our way), having an immunity when they get bitten (what if we didn't take people personally) and getting the job done (no one calling the unions when asked to do something not on their position description). If only we made it so simple. Thanks Global Creatures. One of my fav experiences. #workplaceculture #feedbackculture #peopleandculture #meerkats

FISHING NEEDS ANOTHER FEELGOOD MOVIE Who’s with me on this? It was 31 years ago this week that the movie A River Runs Through It was released in the UK, where I live. It was already a hit the USA, helping to propel the career of Brad Pitt, but also to propel participation in fly fishing. To a staggering degree. Numbers increased by 60% in 1992 and another 60% in 1993. What would fishing give for those numbers today? Of course, it was good fortune that it happened. But I’ve half-joked before with colleagues in the trade that we should maybe put our collective marketing efforts behind a feelgood film. And why not? As a fun five minutes, go ahead and Google the Hollywood stars that love to fish. Surely someone out there can think of an against-the-odds biopic to pitch? It could be a game changer. Edit: Having some fun in the Comments matching stars to possible fishing movies. Feel free to add yours.

This is a fascinating approach to protecting nature: bringing it into the markets, so instead of the markets discounting and disregarding nature, by acknowledging a market value of certain elements of nature, businesses are incentivized to protect these elements, and yes, are punished if they damage the "value" of these elements. Case study here: Whales. Watch the short video. It brings, market forces, technology and conservation together.
Wow, this is big and positive news for a Friday. ???? Leap | B Corp been working with the Blue Green Future team since last week to share this momentous occasion. On 27th March The Indigenous people of New Zealand, Tahiti and the Cook Islands took the reins in their hands and said “We are going to declare personhood on the whale.” Watch the video to see what this means and why it's so important other countries need to replicate this. Huge admiration for Dinah Nieburg who has worked tirelessly to bring this story together and Ralph Chami for his dedication and being there for the announcement last week Well done to the rest of the Blue green team for working on this game changing project?Elena M. Rosa Belinda Bramley Connel Fullenkamp Dr Roger Iles Tom Cosimano Thanks to our fellow B Corps Cornish crew Joe Turnbull and the Bull & Wolf | B Corp team for a very quick turnaround on the video production. "The Man of the Cliffs: A Story of Grit and Legacy" Far and away the most captivating documentary I’ve watched this year,?The Man of the Cliffs?by Deutsche Welle deserves all the attention. It follows a small group of fishermen in Peru who face the steep cliffs of the Pacific Ocean every day, risking their lives to harvest seashells. With nothing more than a rope, their hands, and pure grit, they scale those cliffs to provide for their families. Watching them tackle the intense labor, I was mesmerized. It’s dangerous work: climbing, diving, all with the ocean crashing beneath them. But it’s not just about survival for these men. There’s something deeper: a pride in their craft, a respect for the sea that gives them everything they need. One fisherman’s words stuck with me: “The sea provides everything we need.” The ocean isn’t just a resource for them; it’s a lifeline, a connection to their families and communities. And yet, in the same breath, he admits that if his mother or sister ever attempted what he does, they would make sure he never returned. It hit me hard, because that’s exactly how my family feels about my entrepreneurial journey—leaving home, taking risks, building something of my own. Where some see danger, we see a calling. There’s a responsibility we feel to forge our own path, no matter how treacherous the climb. Whether you’re scaling cliffs or launching a venture, it’s about more than just making a living. It’s about mastering your craft, honoring the work, and building something that lasts. The risks? They’re real. But the sense of purpose? That’s what makes it all worthwhile. https://lnkd.in/dQQ4wmDp

Today in Native American History: September 5 On this day in 1877, the legendary Oglala Lakota warrior and leader Crazy Horse was fatally wounded at Fort Robinson, Nebraska. Crazy Horse, whose Lakota name T?a?ú?ke Witkó means "His-Horse-Is-Crazy," was a pivotal figure in the resistance against U.S. government encroachment on Lakota lands. His strategic brilliance and unwavering dedication to preserving his people's way of life made him a central figure in the Great Sioux War of 1876. Crazy Horse's leadership during this conflict, particularly in the victory at the Battle of Little Bighorn, cemented his place in history as a symbol of Native American resilience and the fight for sovereignty. The circumstances surrounding Crazy Horse's death remain controversial, reflecting the complex and often tragic relationships between Native American tribes and the U.S. government during the 19th century. His legacy, however, continues to inspire Indigenous peoples and advocates for Native rights around the world. At Red Power Energy, we draw inspiration from leaders like Crazy Horse who fought to protect their people's lands and resources. We strive to honor this legacy by partnering with tribal nations to develop sustainable energy solutions that respect both tradition and innovation, ensuring a brighter, cleaner future for all communities. As we remember Crazy Horse today, we're reminded of the importance of preserving Indigenous cultures and the critical role Native American communities play in shaping sustainable practices for our shared environment. #TodayInHistory #NativeAmericanHistory #CrazyHorse #IndigenousHeritage #RedPowerEnergy #CleanEnergy #SustainableFuture How does the legacy of Native American leaders like Crazy Horse inspire your approach to sustainability and community empowerment? Share your thoughts in the comments below.???? #RedPowerEnergy
