Sales and marketing alignment - doesn’t sound too difficult to achieve, right? In my experience it's something that many talk about but few achieve. At Rillion we see this collaboration as fundamental. We just wrapped up 3 days in Austin workshopping the US marketing plan for 2025. During these days I’ve gained so many insights that I’m bringing with me into the new year: ? Qualitative insights of our personas pain points from a sales perspective ? Deeper understanding of the US market and how we can make an impact here ? A clear plan of how we are going to work close together across sales and marketing My favorite part of the trip? Getting to know our amazing US colleagues better over Shake shack burgers ??

Key Difference in MARKETING, BRANDING & SALES The circus is coming to town! ??ADVERTISING: If the circus is coming to town and you paint a sign saying “Circus Coming to the Showground Saturday,” that’s advertising. ??PROMOTION: If you put the sign on the back of an elephant and walk it into town, that’s promotion. ??PUBLICITY: If the elephant walks through the mayor’s flower bed and the local newspaper writes a story about it, that’s publicity. ??PUBLIC RELATIONS: And if you get the mayor to laugh about it, that’s public relations. ??SALES: If the town’s citizens go to the circus, you show them the many entertainment booths, explain how much fun they’ll have spending money at the booths, answer their questions and, ultimately, they spend a lot at the circus, that’s sales. ????“Marketing is an ever-changing buzzword that doesn’t need to be treated like rocket science!” ? CONCLUSION So, to recap: “You can’t just sell your product, you need to sell the story.” The key is in creating a narrative around who you are and what you do that people can relate to. It’s not about what you say about yourself or your product — it’s about how others talk about it.
