NEW: It's a condition that the NIH says is linked to the leading cause of death in the US, and now a CNY Biotech Accelerator client has released test results showing success in not just treating, but reversing atherosclerosis. Repair Biotechnologies announced today that its lipid nanoparticle (LNP)/messenger RNA (mRNA) therapy has rapidly reversed the progression of atherosclerosis during testing, showing as much as a 44% reduction in measures of liver fibrosis following eight weeks of CDP LNP-mRNA treatment. #Atherosclerosis is a common condition that develops when plaque builds up inside your?arteries. According to the NIH, disease linked to atherosclerosis is the leading cause of death in the United States. Repair scientists say that their LNP-mRNA treatment has shown it can be effective for both the rare genetic condition of familial hypercholesterolemia as well as atherosclerosis in the broader population. This initial funding allowed them to develop innovative fluorescent sensors to study neurological diseases in living cells, setting the stage for impactful research. Since then, Montana Molecular was awarded over $4 million in STTR and SBIR funding from four NIH Institutes! ?? These grants have fueled the growth of a vast product library, now essential for researchers studying diseases ranging from substance use disorders to diabetes. Their tools also help test the safety and effectiveness of new drugs in cell models before animal testing. Today, Montana Molecular has commercialization partnerships and distributors across seven countries ??, bringing their technology to university labs, biotech companies, and pharmaceutical R&D teams. Rubedo Life Sciences has spent the last six years meticulously laying the groundwork for its pipeline of senescent cell-targeting treatments -- a field that grabbed headlines in the late 2010s for its anti-aging potential. "We didn't want to rush, we wanted to make sure that we were solid before embarking into clinical development. And now we are ready," CEO Marco Quarta told me.
