Herschend Family Entertainment began partnering with Samaritan's Purse in 2011 with a goal to collect shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. Churches and organizations earn tickets to Herschend properties including The Dollywood Company and The Silver Dollar City Company by packing at least 25 shoeboxes. Since the Shoebox Challenge started, more than 10 million shoeboxes have been collected for children in need through this initiative! On Saturday, some of the Property Support Center team volunteered at the Atlanta Operation Christmas Child Processing Center. The shoeboxes we inspected, taped, organized, and scanned will be gifted to children in Burkina Faso and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

We are always so proud to be a part of our community and give back to those who support us, every day. The Salvation Army Angel Tree is a program designed to provide Christmas gifts to children and families in need. The initiative allows individuals and organizations to participate by adopting an "angel" (a child) and purchasing gifts based on their wishes and needs. How Does An Angel Tree Work? Typically, a community partner or local organization will set up an Angel Tree, where tags representing children are displayed with their ages, genders, and gift suggestions. Donors can then take a tag, purchase the gifts, and return them to the designated location for distribution. The program helps ensure that children and families experience the joy of the holiday season, even if they are facing financial hardships. I’d like to thank whichever smart person invented the concept of the Switch Witch, who comes to children on Halloween night, replacing their candy with a prize of your choosing. After all, kids don’t need all that candy! But neither do their parents, so what to do with the overflow (once you’ve sorted out the good stuff for yourself, of course!)? ????????: Operation Gratitude, which ships the candy to U.S. Troops, is one possibility. Other local options include dropping it off at children’s hospitals, homeless shelters or food pantries, or nursing homes.
