What do we all think about funding in the #cybersec sector atm? Disappointing and lacking come to mind. ? The Common Good Cyber initiative has been announced by a collaboration of Cyber Threat Alliance, CyberPeace Institute and a couple others "aimed at building sustainable funding models to support those who secure the Internet". ? I think this is a positive move to aim to garner both public and private collaboration to create more #cybersecurity focused funds. ? #startup

A few concluding thoughts from our RSA panel with Rubrik CEO Bipul Sinha and Former CISA Director Chris Krebs: 1. Our CISO expectations are completely unsustainable. We are asking one corporate officer to assume all responsibility for security, despite having little say over budgets, automation. This, in addition to fending off advanced nation state threats, leading crisis communications to customers and boards, tracking and forecasting risk from geopolitical tensions and oh, playing fall guy for advanced breaches. 2. We need to reframe the CISO role from one who prevents cyberattacks (that in too many cases cannot be prevented, see APTs) to that of a business continuity/resilience officer who ensures that critical business functions resume in an attack. It is also critical that boards work with CISOs to understand and define “acceptable risk.” 3. Open question: Is it time for serious governance changes? Should boards create a separate cyber risk committee? Should CIOs report to CISOs? (GASP I.e Often its CIOs who lead automation and AI efforts, but CISOs who are on the hook for any accompanying risk. Given our complex threat environment (and the debilitating attacks we are witnessing on a daily basis) is it time to reassess?
