?? Calling all educators, community leaders, and youth organizations in Warley and Boothtown! ?? Exciting opportunities await for our communities, and we need your input to make them a reality! We're continuing our partnership with Calderdale Council to deliver UKSPF government funding hyper-locally in the communities of North Halifax, Park, Warley, and Boothtown. These funds are specifically designed to support and strengthen our communities, and we're committed to investing them based on community ideas and engagement. At Halifax Opportunities Trust, along with my colleague Sofie from Active Calderdale, we would like to explore opportunities for investment in the localities of Warley & Boothtown based on the recent findings from the Make Space for Girls campaign (you can read more about this here: https://lnkd.in/eR65dshi ) Here's how you can get involved: ?? Listening and Co-Production Workshops: Sofie and I are available to attend your premises to facilitate workshops where we can listen to the opinions and ideas of the young women in your school or organisation. ?? Survey Participation: Encourage your students or participants in school years 10, 11, and sixth form (ages 14-18) to complete our survey: https://lnkd.in/eGAvEsix ?? Nominate Students/Participants: If you have specific students or participants who you believe would have valuable insights, please nominate them for us to contact directly. The feedback we gather from this engagement will be instrumental in developing funding proposals for investment in our communities. It's crucial that these proposals are rooted in community engagement and co-production. If you're interested in supporting this engagement or have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch. Together, let's make a positive impact and create safe, empowering spaces for young women in our community. ?? Lisa 07891 831740 or Sofie 07745 206207? ?? "Crazy Anti-Homeless Architecture" epitomizes a troubling intersection of urban design and social exclusion. These hostile structures, ranging from spiked benches to sloped surfaces, prioritize aesthetics over empathy, effectively criminalizing poverty. Rather than addressing the root causes of homelessness, they exacerbate the issue, creating physical barriers to public spaces. Such designs reflect a societal failure to provide adequate support and compassion for vulnerable populations. Instead, they symbolize a misguided attempt to hide the problem rather than solve it, perpetuating stigma and inequality. True progress lies in fostering inclusive urban environments that prioritize dignity, compassion, and equitable access for all. #AntiHomelessArchitecture #UrbanDesign #SocialExclusion #Homelessness #CriminalizingPoverty #Inequality #Compassion #Empathy #UrbanInclusion #Dignity https://lnkd.in/escYxwq9 Marcio Le?o?Parastoo Azad?Dr.Subramanian, Ph.D., FNAE, F.ASCE, M.ACI Narayanan?Felipe Ochoa Cornejo ???????????Yeo Chee Min?Oliver Jones?Tanvir Hussain?Prashant Srivastava?Civil Er.Jai Kumar Tiwari?Nitin Gupta?Florian Palatini?Grant LeBeau, EIT?Gregory Harington?Rajashekar Bhukya

?? Facing the Crowd with Purpose ?? In this moment, and every other moment right before stepping onto the podium, there's a whirlwind of emotions. The nerves, the anticipation, and the weight of the responsibility ahead. But amidst all that, there's an unwavering drive and a clear purpose. This particular day, as I stood there being mic'd up, I couldn't help but think about the countless children and young people whose futures depend on the discussions and decisions made today. Advocating for urbanism that caters to their needs isn't just a duty—it's a passion. Addressing the audience with solutions to our generational challenges is both humbling and empowering. It's about providing a voice for children and young people, ensuring that our urban environments are designed with them in mind. Together, we can shape cities that are not only sustainable but also inclusive and nurturing for the next generation. ?? Today we hosted Women in Construction in Lincolnshire for an event focused on driving change and meeting regional skills needs, bringing together influential leaders from the construction, architecture and planning sectors. This aligns with Inspire Education Group (IEG)’s recently launched 2030 strategy, where we aim to build strong community partnerships and empower individuals through education and training. The event also consisted of interactive workshops in our Modern Methods of Construction Centre (MMC), sponsored by Allison Homes. Watch to see Emma Hill, Group Head of Curriculum for Modern Construction, talk about why today was pivotal in driving change for the industry. Read more: https://ow.ly/9PSK50Upg1W

?? Children and young people are not just the future inhabitants of cities but also the designers of tomorrow's urban environments. ???It is paramount to ensure that young people’s voices are heard and their needs considered in government agendas for sustainable urban change. ??Geographers from the University of Birmingham investigated the diverse ways in which children participate in community building and the importance of this for cohesion, sustainability, and designing safer, better places for all. ?The research shaped international policy by influencing the metadata used to monitor progress towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals. National governments are now mandated to report on the ‘participation of women, young men and women, and/or other marginalised (i.e. young people) groups’ in urban planning and governance. UK colleagues. Check out this great case study using Social Pinpoint. If you are doing any community engagement on high street renewal, placemaking or are accessing levelling up funding, this is a brilliant case for using digital engagement. #communityengagement?#digitalengagement?#levellingup?
Congratulations on creating a highly engaging online space for community members to share their ideas for transforming the future of South Woodford! ?? Prior to embracing Social Pinpoint, The South Woodford Society primarily interacted with residents through offline activities. This led the Society to seek new digital tools in the hopes of expanding its reach online to the wider community. “Social Pinpoint, and the array of digital tools it offers – mapping and community ‘notice boards’ to funding priority tools – is a fantastic way to complement offline engagement. It means that those who don’t have the time or resources to join in-person workshops for example, can contribute. It’s a really collaborative platform, which supports individual ideas and collective discussions. The South Woodford Society are pioneers. What they are doing really is a blueprint for what a community can create. Making changes to planning policy is truly difficult. The South Woodford Society should be celebrated – they’re just brilliant. They are a women led group and they don’t take no for an answer.” View The South Woodford Society's journey below! ?? #SouthWoodford #England #London #UK #CommunityEngagement
