Digital growth strategies - Edge Artificial Intelligence & Digital Twin Expertise

The use-case of pump failure detection is likely one of the most commonly presented problems by startups and other tech companies with the vision to eliminate unplanned production stops and provide data to enable predictive maintenance. It makes total sense while the problem is massive in terms of economical and environmental benefits when an "out of the box" solution is offered. Fiction or fact? Providing technology that is capable of providing insights into early detecting pump failures or the current state of energy waste does solve the use case only for a small part of the real-world problem. naming that Artificial Intelligent or labelling it as Predictive maintenance is like to be fiction. In fact, real-time insights into design, current and future state scenarios to prevent potential failure happening by optimizing pump systems is a more true fact of solving the problem. How does that work? Xylem is providing such solutions already for a long time where subject matter expertise is infused into the real-time data streams. Understanding the business outcomes is nicely presented in the #SAMPRO trailer, enjoy!

Great post Mike. As an addition, failure detection only creates value when a failure is actually detected. If you install 50 units and you predict 2 failures what's the ROI for the complete deployment? 48 units gave you nothing. Deploy 50 optimization solutions and every single one of them will create value.
