Tech Tip of the week!
Avoiding ransomware can be difficult. These attackers do everything they can to make their emails, documents, and websites look legit without alerting users to the automatic download of their malicious software.
To detect ransomware and protect your business from these common scams, there are a few things you can do:
1. Teaching employees to spot signs of ransomware. They should look for fake emails designed to look like real businesses, suspicious links, and untrustworthy attachments.
2. Hosting a honeypot, or decoy files, can help distract ransomware attackers from your business’ system. This also gives you a chance to detect and stop the attack.
3. Using antivirus and anti-ransomware tools can help block ransomware and whitelist safe sites. This software can also help detect threats.
4. Configuring your email settings to prevent malicious emails such as blocking emails containing executable files from your employees’ inboxes.
In the event that ransomware attackers find their way into your system, all is not lost. Reach out to an IT professional like Tech Squared to help retrieve your data, remove the ransomware from infected devices, and protect your business from future scam attempts.
