There's an amazing poll at the bottom of the post and we'd love for you to rock the vote! I was on a training recently with a bunch of small business leaders and the subject was... Recruiting. And as I was listening I saw all of these preparation tools - make all of these lists - check this off and check that off - ask this question and ask that question. And it got me thinking about trying to evaluate a person in two meetings (sometimes one) to determine if they're a good fit for your organization. It also got me thinking about who in their right mind is answering any of these questions negatively. What happens when your alarm goes off? Um I can barely get out of bed - I trip over the dog - yell at the kids - spill coffee on my shirt and then road rage all the way to the office. I mean people aren't honest in a formal interview - they're trying to be right - because they're trying to get the job. Hiring managers are the same. How's the work life balance? Oh it's great. Misaligned expectations from a candidate or a hiring manager are the number 1 reason hiring is broken. So I wanted to ask you kind folks a question. Do you think companies hire well?
