A massive thank you to the 1,000 new #RepairHeroes who have joined ABI’s journey, allowing us to reach 10,000 followers on LinkedIn! ASTM International's exoskeletons and exosuits committee (F48) is working on a proposed standard that will guide for maintaining exoskeletons. According to Matthew Dickinson, an ASTM member, the proposed standard will focus on helping users of exoskeletons. The proposed standard will provide a systematic approach to testing that will help ensure that the exoskeletons function seamlessly and align with their design expectations. Matthew Dickinson, a senior lecturer in mechanical engineering at the School of Engineering, University of Central Lancashire, underscores the importance of establishing a procedural framework to verify the safe and effective use of exoskeletons. Given their pivotal role in augmenting the capabilities of workers, the proposed standard directly contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal #3 on good health and well-being, underscoring its potential impact on the safety and well-being of exoskeleton users. ASTM welcomes participation in the development of its standards, which cover exoskeletons for a variety of uses, including industrial, emergency response, medical, military, and consumer applications covering passive and active systems.
