With the planet's rivers totaling approximately 2,000 km3, we're nearing a critical juncture where we discharge nearly 400 km3 of #wastewater into surface water bodies. While just over 50% of this wastewater volume receives treatment, a mere 1% addresses #emergingcontaminants - a stark reminder of the work ahead. After three years of intensive research in this field, if I had to identify the area with the greatest potential for the Water Positive initiative, it would undoubtedly be wastewater treatment, with water reuse as the cornerstone of our approach.
