A Little Theatre can make a big impact.
A Little impact from last season. These numbers do not adequately tell the story of the student who was so shy she couldn't go on stage her first performance and now walks confidently into a room, who's parents cannot believe how confident and strong she has become. It does not show you the laughter and tears on an audience member's face. It only glimpses at the impact LTWS has made on the experience of theatre teachers and their students in the school system.

Join me for story circle training!
Wouldn't it feel wonderful to be trained to develop connections in the community around you? At the SPA Women’s Circle retreat, a theatre professional and playwright teaches you how to effectively facilitate a story circle, a powerful tool for building connections across boundaries through story-sharing. Tara Brooke Watkins is a New England-based theatre director specializing in community engagement practices. Currently an assistant professor at Salve Regina University, she holds a Master’s in theatre education from Emerson College and a PhD in Theatre and Performance Studies from Tufts University. She is a story circle facilitator and advocate for its use in creating dialogue across boundaries. Using applied theatre techniques in collaboration with story circles, she promotes an embodied communal healing experience around oft-hushed topics like interracial relations, sexual violence, and fatphobia. Out of this desire, she has co-led groups such as “Shatter the Silence” at Bethel AME Church in Boston with Rev. Gloria White-Hammond and antiracism accountability groups such as “1619 Reading and Action Group.” Tara Brooke Watkins *** Registration ends on Sept 15th. Register now! Office of the Provost: Afrodescendant Institute of Human Rights This is one of the main reasons we must assert our “Afrodescendant Status” as proscribed by the Organization of American States and its court, the Inter-American Court. The international laws says that we have a right to self-determination over the land that we have perennially lived on that includes all decision making over all of our property and institutions. Civil rights is not enough and can never be enough because all of the court, legal, and administrative decisions are made by an entrenched customary racial system. In order to have excellent schools, housing, banks, and employment systems and services we must govern them as “indigenous Afrodescendant people”. We now have the laws in place and an unbiased court called the Inter-American Court which will rule in our favor concerning our human rights underlying the indigenous status.
At HBCU Prep School, we’re on a mission to bring empowering and authentic stories of the Black experience into homes and classrooms everywhere!
WOW! ?? This is a phenomenal performance brought to life by kids who have the charisma and talent of professional dancers! Shoutout to the teachers and choreographers for helping these kids showcase Black stories and history in an AMAZING way! ???? ???@brischemilann?@maldub74
