74% of primary school teachers report declining physical activity levels. Independent research proves that our Active Leader programmes increase attitudes to and participation in activity. In primary schools, for every pupil in year 5/6 we train to be a Junior Active Leader, 3 more children become active - particularly where the trained pupils help children with special educational needs. This happens everywhere, regardless of socio-economic situation. Teachers have reported a 'whole school active' ethos as a result. They have also commented on the confidence our course has provided to primary school teachers who receive very little training in the delivery of PE at primary school level. Our training makes it easier to embed an 'active ethos' on a day to day basis. We are also working with undergraduates training to be primary school teachers, so they can deliver our Junior Active Leader course as part of their school curriculum, when they qualify. All children and young people have said our courses are fun and they feel more confident and inspired to help others be active. We have told the DCMS and Sport England that we are ready to help the ever growing concern of the long term effects of inactivity. We are happy to speak to any headteacher and share our learnings. We can help implement a course within a short timeframe and we provide all the resources so no-one has to stand by a photocopier or spend hours on line downloading materials. We know the quality of what we offer is the highest level, as our fiercest critics are the schools and children we work with. We respect that those on the front line of education are working extremely hard, every day of the school year, and we are not trying to increase their workload. Instead, we are harnessing the incredible abilities of young people to lead themselves and others, using fun activity as the medium. It's a winning, practical solution which tackles an issue continually under discussion. Please feel free to contact [email protected] and we will do all we can to help. our website www.activeleaders.co.uk provides further information.

District leaders, don't let your newest educators be caught in this situation... - Problem: Your new hires are eager to find more support, advice, guidance, and resources but don’t know where to turn. - Solution: Provide them with real people, real educators, on-demand, who understand what they’re going through and how they feel, who can help them with whatever they need. - Outcome: Confidence in their ability to keep going because they know they have someone who is always there to provide guidance, support, advice, and resources in their time of need. Ensure your newest educators feel like they have someone to turn to in that first critical year! BYS qualifies for Title II funding requirements ?? #SupportTeachers #DistrictLeaders #K12 #Title2

It's August 1, and it "back to school" time again for many #K12 teachers and #HigherEd faculty. I've always found inspiration for starting a new year in the impact I can have on my students. I've also been inspired by the many educators I've worked with over the years, including (but not limited to) Jodi Abbott MD MHCM, Ryan Bartelmay, Lynn Blosser, NBCT, Nancy Bonn-Winkler, Bob Borst, Tara Bryant-Edwards, PhD, MBA, LCPC, Amanda Cook, Lisa Downey, Terrie Foltz, John M. Frech, Cynthia Frisby, Marsha Shigeyo Hawley, Heidi Hedeker, Dr. Alice Jackson, James Laffey, Jane Lucas, Laurie McDevitt, Sapna Mangal, Maria A. Montalvo, Christine Nobbe, Michele Nothdorf, Kathy Peckron, Deb Popely, Dr. Denise Pupillo, Keisha Rembert, Lynessa M. Rico, Ph.D., Donna Russell, Ph.D., Phuong Thai-Garcia, Leigh Uhlir, Rob Watson, John Zimmermann, and Emma Zone, EdD * I've also found inspiration in movies that showcase amazing teachers in various educational settings. This infographic highlights six films that I watch (and rewatch) to reignite my passion for teaching. What are YOUR most inspiration movies about teachers and teaching? ???? #TeacherInspiration #TeachingMovies #InspirationalTeachers #EducationMatters #TeachingHeroes #ClassroomStories #TeacherLife #EducatorSpotlight #MoviesThatInspire #TeachingJourney #K12 #HigherEd #AdultLearning #MedEd * There are so many others I would include in this list; however, I focused on those educators I know were on LinkedIn for this post.

A national example of fostering learner agency and learning from those that education impacts the most - the student. Schools and systems tapping into learners’ perspectives, insights and analysis and solutions to drive school improvement? That’s what the Learner Commissioner work is all about. I love seeing the work being done and lead by schools in NT (and now elsewhere) that authentically brings in learners as tangible and valued partners. Read more below in Summer Howarth’s post and the E4L capture of some examples. #learneragency #leadership

How have schools implemented the Northern Territory Learning Commission (and the work of the commissioners)? Check out these three short profiles that get right to the point around moving from idea to action. Created for Department of Education Northern Territory by Susannah Schoeffel. “It’s a great sense of community, throughout the NT - it’s so nice to see that people actually care about improving their schools and communities." SEEKING SUCCESS - PART 3 Having read countless K-12 school district mission statements it is clear that most are cumbersome expressions of academic excellence which are often combined with an expectation for exceptional teaching effort. Rarely do they challenge the entire workforce to become mission focused. They do not enable everyone to see their role in setting the stage for student learning. Most of the time people cannot accurately repeat their district’s mission statement or speak to its day-to-day relevance. At the risk of being presumptive, I believe the mission of every K-12 school district can be stated in one sentence. “Each day we will create the right conditions for learning.” Every employee has a role to play in accomplishing this. The leadership team, Board, and community have the collective responsibility to determine their definition of “right” in relation to creating the conditions for their students to learn.

Attention CA School and District Leaders -- Are you aware of how much California is allocating to your district for Extended Learning Opportunities Programs (ELOP)? Make sure you’re fully engaged with the state’s multi-year, $5 billion investment in programs that operate before school, after school, or both, but not during the instructional day. And just so you know, LEAs may employ staff to plan and/or prep for the ELO Program during hours that overlap with the instructional day, provided those staff members are not supporting instructional day activities. ?? ?? I recently wrote an article for #FGCU360 about the Lucas Center’s 10-year tradition of professional development book clubs at Florida Gulf Coast University. I've joined at least five of these clubs at #FGCU over the years so I know firsthand how they foster innovation, build community and challenge participants to explore new ideas. Here are three key takeaways from the article that can be applied to anyone looking to grow professionally: ? 1.) Step outside your comfort zone. Like Laura Frost, who took on a challenging topic outside her typical field, we grow the most when we embrace new ideas and experiences that push us to think differently. ? 2.) Engage in meaningful dialogue. Like Jackie Greene said, there's a kind of magic in workplace book clubs, where diverse perspectives are shared by participants from different academic backgrounds. Having open discussions with people from various disciplines enriches your own understanding and sparks innovation. ? 3.) Build a sense of community. Professional growth isn’t just about personal success — like Bill Reynolds said, it’s about fostering connections that support and inspire you. FGCU’s book clubs help faculty build lasting relationships and share knowledge that strengthens the entire campus. ? Consider starting or joining a workplace group where you can share knowledge and grow together. Read the article here: https://lnkd.in/euyUeBU4 #LifelongLearning #BuildCommunity?#FacultyDevelopment

Michigan needs an educated workforce to fend off our state’s backward slide. Key business leaders, key leaders in the education community along with community leaders, legislators, and policy makers need to partner to solve this problem. The focus should be on the design and implementation of systemic changes to improve the education system and eliminate redundancy and waste within it. https://lnkd.in/gXarjCPv
Opinion: If we want real change in education, we need to make real changes
