I was speaking at a service club breakfast meeting when a woman sitting in front of me accidentally knocked over her water glass. ?? Water splashed over everything. She jumped up, shrieking.??? And my speech screeched to a halt.??? When things settled down again, I resumed my talk.??? "Well, this speech made a big splash, didn't it?" I quipped, getting a big laugh. ?? Then I directly spoke to the lady at the center of the mishap. "Are you OK, now?” I asked her with a smile. “Can we go on?"??? She smiled, and said, "Yes, I'm OK. Sorry." The point: There’s only ONE thing nearly as important as how you deliver a speech in public speaking. And that is how you put on a?show. Remember: Whenever you speak to any assembled person or group, aiming to deliver a message of information, persuasion or diversion, you’re a performer. That speaking area is a stage. And the group or person in front of you are an audience. And audiences expect performers on stages to put on shows.?The secret is to manage the crowd's emotions to give listeners a satisfying experience. Like I did with my service club talk. Direct-message me if you’d like to learn more about mastering the art of the show on the speaking stage. It will supercharge your business. #entrepreneurship #personaldevelopment #publicspeaking #stage
