Cybersecurity Research Training Cohort 2: Midway Milestone! We are excited to announce that our Cohort 2 of the Cybersecurity Research Training is officially halfway through! Over the past weeks, participants have immersed themselves in the foundational aspects of cybersecurity research, covering key areas that will shape the future of digital security: ? Introduction to Cybersecurity Research? Participants began by exploring the basics, understanding the critical difference between academic and industry-driven research, and recognizing the importance of this field in combating evolving digital threats. ? Choosing a Cybersecurity Research Topic? Our trainees learned to identify their interests within the cybersecurity domain, refine broad ideas, and formulate focused research questions that address real-world challenges. ? Literature Review Basics in Cybersecurity? They delved into the process of conducting literature reviews, developing strategies to find relevant information, and synthesizing data specific to cybersecurity. ? Research Question Formulation in Cybersecurity? The cohort crafted clear, actionable research questions, ensuring alignment with their chosen topics and the broader landscape of cybersecurity issues. ? Research Design and Methodology in Cybersecurity? We explored various research designs and methodologies, equipping participants with the tools to choose the most appropriate approach for their studies. ? As we move into the second half of the training, we are eager to see the innovative research that will emerge from this talented group. #DoubleChallenge Day 14 & 15: How I got into cybersecurity and how I stayed updated with the latest changes in cybersecurity I didn’t start my career with cybersecurity in mind, but over time, my path naturally evolved toward it. With a background in IT management and a passion for solving problems, I began to notice the importance of securing data and systems, especially with the growing threats organisations and individuals face in protecting their information. This made me to start taking courses on cybersecurity and attending conferences webinars relating to cybersecurity, which enabled me to handle cybersecurity in my current role. As for staying updated, in the world of cybersecurity, one constant thing is change and below are a few ways I stay updated, No. 4 and 5 were newly introduced this year: 1. I follow industry news and reports in order to stay informed with the latest cybersecurity news and trends 2. I continually learn through courses and certifications in order to enhance my skills 3. I learn from others’ experiences in order to avoid errors and gain new perspectives. Just as Isaac Newton said, "If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants" 4. I share knowledge in communities in order to strengthen my understanding. 5. I network with peers by engaging with professionals through forums and conferences.
