Assemble The Universe! I don't drink pop very often (yeah I said pop, proud Yinzer here) and I'm a passive Marvel fan at best. I like Storm for sure and would look out for that one in particular, but I would have to get a set if I found Storm. Really clever marketing piece. Reminds me of the old IRON CITY BREWING COMPANY pop top collectable beer cans with different images of National Football League (NFL) and Major League Baseball (MLB) teams on them. We still have quite a few Pittsburgh Steelers cans stored away. But the real story here is the long-standing mastermind of Disney and their acquisition genius that changed the media category in a way we had never seen. The typical company mindset is to compete. Someone has a product that's winning against you? You make a better one, right? Any company other than Disney would have tried to make some better super hero world and cast of characters to head go head to head with Marvel. It would have been a flop. But better isn't the winner. Different is the winner. And if the winner exists in the category, you don't squabble over the crumbs of what's left, trying to tell everyone that's you're better. You pivot on a dime and give 11 cents change like Disney did and ACQUIRE the Category Kings and Queens like Pixar Animation Studios, Marvel Entertainment, and Lucasfilm for the most powerhouse, multi-concept studio there ever was. If you listened to yesterday's episode of Unleashed, Unchained & Unapologetic you will have heard me mention my 10 Top Gun Team Rules of Engagement, which I promised to share. Here's the thing. Top Gun is one of my absolute favourite movies of all time. (Annnd yup, I'm one of those reeeaallly annoying people that reads out all the quotes out loud whilst watching the film) ?? ?? Maaan, I love that film, but I love the message behind it most. The drive, the energy, the 'need for speed' the momentum, the triumphs, the losses, the emotion, the vigilance, the teamship. Upholding exceptionalism. But most of all what it truly means to be a good wingman...collaboration, communication, human, compassionate - honoring teamship. I have pretty much called all team members 'wingmen' over the years..?? I've been known to buy my teams Top Gun DVD, t-shirts and 'wings' pins..?? I even own a Top Gun cap that sits in pride of place in my home office ?? I'm a passionate team and customer advocate. I can also be a bit of a Maverick, I like to do things differently, to stand out. Be memorable. Back in the day, I was privileged to be the Marketing lead alongside THE best team at Direct Holidays - together, we grew net revenue by 7.5M in 18 months. That is where my 10 Top Gun Team Rules of Engagement were born. So, here's me fulfilling that promise of yesterday, today. #teamship #teamvalues

For a few of the firearms conferences I'm going to attend this year, I think I'm going to display this Smith & Wesson revolver. On the surface, it's in gorgeous shape for such an early example of a Model 1. It left the factory on April 12, 1859 and probably arrived that same day at the offices of Joseph Storrs in New York City. Storrs was Smith & Wesson's sole sales agent back in the day, and he coordinated the distribution of their revolvers around the world. This one is particularly unique, because it's dealer stamped by another distributor: Wolfe, Dash & Fisher. WD&F were hardware wholesalers in New York that also had an office in New Orleans. The Big Easy was a profitable market for wholesalers and distributors, but the logistics of getting goods down there weren't easy to navigate. The company's principles included John Wolfe, Bowie and John B. Dash, and Frederick A. Fisher. If the Wolfe name sounds vaguely familiar, it may be through Catharine Lorillard Wolfe. Catharine was John's first cousin, and she ended up inheriting much of the Wolfe family's wealth—which she used to develop an enormous European art collection. Her bequest of this collection (and a $200,000 endowment) formed the foundation of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's remarkable collection of paintings. WD&F only lasted a few years into the Civil War. The blockades made it next t impossible to move goods south—crippling a major source of their profits. Bowie Dash went on to become an important New York coffee merchant. As for this revolver?
