Exploring Robopack: A Game-Changer in Application Update and Distribution. Over the past few years, I've gotten to know and tried numerous application update and distribution systems that integrate with Microsoft's Intune. I’ve come to one clear conclusion: while each system has its strengths, none have been able to effectively address the critical issue of application updates. Distributing applications to workstations via Intune has always been straightforward, but maintaining up-to-date applications has proven to be a significant challenge. Last week, however, I was introduced to Robopack, and I must say, I am genuinely convinced of its efficacy! Robopack offers a browser-based portal that provides access to more than 35,000 applications, with new versions becoming available rapidly after their release. This feature alone stands out in the competitive landscape. One of Robopack’s standout features is its ability to import pre-packaged applications from systems like SCCM directly into the portal. In the background, all packages are sent to the organization's Intune, which is integrated as part of the Robopack. This seamless integration facilitates ease of use and flexibility in managing application updates. But what truly convinced me of Robopack's superiority? The service ensures that once an application is distributed, any new version is automatically included in subsequent distributions upon release. This eliminates the need for time-consuming packaging and parameter searches. Distribution is managed in waves — one for testing, another for a select number of machines, and the final one for the remaining workstations. This meticulous process is set up only once, streamlining the entire update mechanism significantly. There are numerous other benefits to Robopack that I’ll delve into as my testing progresses. However, one compelling reason to explore this service immediately is its cost-effectiveness. Robopack is completely free for organizations with fewer than 100 workstations.
