Did you know? 60% of Colorado child care providers report they don’t know where to find funding resources. The Colorado Department of Early Childhood conducted the Colorado Child Care Facility Needs Assessment to uncover challenges and opportunities in expanding early childhood education. The findings highlight two key needs: ?? Building stronger community partnerships ?? Creating diverse, accessible funding strategies Addressing these gaps is essential to ensuring every child in Colorado has access to quality care. "Does one plus one always equal two?" This is an great research paper that examines community intervention and how it can improve performance using a case study of Florida .It concludes that the extended school day policy that targets lowest-performing schools in reading in Florida significantly improved the effectiveness of the third-grade retention policy in these schools. ?? https://lnkd.in/e2rYP-Wa

"Quality early education is essential to prepare children for elementary school and the world around them. Having access to quality early education programs also provides parents with essential support so that they can enter and remain in the workforce, which aids employers as well." One component of the state’s multi-pronged early education and child care structure, The Child Care Finance Assistance (CCFA) system, serves more than 65,000 of the most vulnerable children across the state. In their new report, 'Building Blocks: Status of Child Care Reform in Massachusetts and What Comes Next,' the Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation with the support of TBF explores how well the state is doing at supporting and strengthening CCFA - and what can be done to protect and expand access as COVID-era supports come to an end. The LINC team is excited to be in ???? Puerto Rico this week for the 2024 SOMOS, Inc. (fka Somos el Futuro, Inc.) conference! LINC Chief Programs Officer, Laura Walsh, will be speaking on the “Rising Readers” panel, discussing the importance of building literacy and resilience in Latino youth alongside an incredible group of panelists: Ramon Peguero and Ingrid Chungata of Committee for Hispanic Children & Families, Victor Pichardo Jr. of SBH Health System, and Kari Kurjiaka of Reach Out and Read. ?????? Did you know that over half a million children under five in NYC are at risk of falling behind due to a lack of early literacy experiences? ?? 44.5% live in low-income households, and 76% are children of color, making them more likely to face obstacles on learning how to read. But early literacy can break that cycle, giving kids the foundation they need to thrive. ???? ??Early literacy?? is the most effective tool we have to rebuild equitably and improve overall outcomes for children. A child who reads is a child who leads. Investing in early literacy means investing in a brighter, more resilient future for all.
