I was listening to an Imperfects podcast this week and the topic of mental wellbeing was part of the conversation. What struck me is that now this *is* part of the conversation - it's not always an easy conversation, and it can still be filled with moments of caution and nervousness - but people are so much more willing to share their experiences than ever before. But with that comes the need for those listening to know what they are hearing, to not be fearful of the conversation and to be ready to respond in caring and helpful ways. RU OK? Day has been a great part of opening the door on those conversations, but I also encourage you to consider doing Mental Health First Aid #MHFA so that you have the tools to know what to listen for and how to respond. I've just completed my second round as a certified Mental Health First Aider, and I learn more and gain more understanding each time.
