?? From "organic" to "sustainable" and now "regenerative" agriculture, the conversation around growing healthy food continues to evolve. The shift to regenerative agriculture isn't just about sustaining soil health; it's about revitalizing it. Modern farming practices have depleted our soils, resulting in crops with lower nutrient levels. It's time to regenerate our soil, bringing back its vitality and nutrients. Let's embark on this journey towards a healthier future together: #RegenerativeAgriculture #wellnessmamablog #farming #organic #sustainable

While many consumers recognize the term “regenerative agriculture,” a study found that only a small group accurately understands what it entails. European consumers often confuse “regenerative” with “organic” agriculture, viewing foods from local farms as sustainable and regenerative. The majority believe products from regenerative agriculture are healthier and tastier, highlighting the need for further research to align consumer expectations with reality and prevent greenwashing. #regenerative #farming #agriculture https://lnkd.in/gdcx49xG

Analyzed voter turnout in Las Vegas, Clark County, Nevada from 2014 to 2022, with a focus on senior citizens (aged 50 and above).
https://lnkd.in/de5njkWt ADM defines #RegenerativeAgriculture as “an outcome-based farming approach that protects and improves soil health, biodiversity, climate and water resources while supporting farming business development.” Additionally, ADM calls it “adaptive to local physical conditions and culture” and based on five principles of land management: 1. Minimizing soil disturbance [this keeps the fungi intact] 2. Maintaining living roots in soil [this feeds that biology] 3. Continuously covering bare soil [helps keep it alive] 4. Maximizing diversity with an emphasis on crops, soil microbes, and pollinators [there is a "quorum sensing" function to communities of microbes that is far above and beyond individual microbes. Jump right in the middle of the talk at https://lnkd.in/db6guc8V] 5. Responsibly managing inputs, including nutrients and pesticides [see elsewhere in the above talk] It was nice to hear ADM's efforts began in 2018. That's about when I was hearing, "We've got to have fungal dominated compost for soil biodiversity" from (Earthfort) and others. For me, that way finally became clear when I learned about the #JohnsonSuBioreactor (JSB) static pile method of composting. (See above video link.) Now, I'm adjusting my methods, testing my results, and learning as I go until I get a JSB up and composting myself here in the northeast Mojave desert. For all us consumers, let's learn what we can to go beyond organic and consume regenerative agriculture, or as Dr Johnson calls it, "Biologically Enhanced Agriculture Management" or BEAM for short. We're still learning, but our health and the health of the planet just might be a whole lot better because of it. Please see the video and post your questions. ???

?? Curious about how traditional practices meet innovation on the path to sustainable farming? Dive into our exclusive interview with Daniel Lovett from Lovett Family Farms Ltd, a third-generation farm in New Zealand's Mid-Canterbury plains, as he shares insights on regenerative agriculture and the transformation happening in potato farming. ?? Following the release of the McCain’s case study, we spoke with Daniel about the unique challenges his family farm faces and the regenerative practices they use to ensure long-term sustainability. From using cover crops to reduce soil erosion, increase water retention, and enhance soil health to planting more perennial native plants in less productive areas to improve biodiversity, their approach exemplifies the goals of our Regenerating Together Programme. ?? As Daniel explains, “Sacrificing short-term profits for the benefit of future generations is in our DNA.” Discover how they balance profitability with sustainable land stewardship and how the agri-food industry can support farmers on this journey. ?? https://lnkd.in/exGcFind #PeoplePoweredAgriculture

How should we spend an annual $13 billion in regenerative agriculture? ?? If the U.S. food and agribusiness industry were to spend 1% of revenues on regenerative agriculture, this is the amount of money that could be applied towards the transition. Every year. Recently, The Conservation Finance Network wrote a great article on how to understand private financing in the regenerative agriculture space. In short, regenerative agriculture represents a promising investment, but there remains confusion on how and why to do this work...creating a critical gap in funding. In our report below, Agroforestry Partners adds context for what we're seeing in the marketplace, while also making a suggestion for how "Big Food" can meet the moment and help quickly propel the industry transition. ? Risk is a major reason some farmers steer clear of trying regenerative agriculture practices. In the article below, Margaret Henry, the senior director, sustainable agriculture strategy and external engagement at PepsiCo said, “You need agronomic advice to determine what (regenerative practices) makes sense for your farm.” She also said some regenerative farming practices can take up to four years to pay back. PhycoTerra? is a different kind of regenerative agriculture practice, because our product helps growers achieve results in the same year. Supporting soil microbes has a tangible impact on farms shortly after application, and we’ve got the trial data to prove it. Learn more about the changes PepsiCo is making to implement regenerative farming practices.
