"Heart and the Function" Function of Heart easy and understandable for students ?? Think of the heart as a water pump in a garden. Imagine you have a pump that pulls water from a pond and sends it through hoses to water all the plants in your garden. The plants need water to grow and stay healthy, just like our body needs blood to function properly. The heart is like the pump that keeps working to move blood, just like the pump moves water. The blood is like the water that carries nutrients (like oxygen) to all parts of the body, just like the water nourishes the plants. If the pump stops working, the plants won’t get water and will dry up. Similarly, if the heart stops, the body doesn’t get blood, and the organs can’t survive. Just like you take care of the pump to make sure your garden stays healthy, we need to take care of our heart to keep our body strong and functioning well.

Estamos felices de compartir nuestra última publicación “Evaluation of the implementation of the school feeding program in Cali. The PAE at the blackboard” en colaboración con Christián Zapata de la Universidad del Valle. Abstract The aim of this article is to assess the execution of the School Feeding Program (Programa de Alimentación Escolar) [PAE] in Cali between 2016 and 2019, focusing on its role in promoting healthy eating habits. Clear, concise language and technical terms have been employed, with an objective and balanced approach throughout. The study used documentary analysis to explore the program’s development at both national and local levels, as well as the impact of new public management strategies since its establishment in 1936. In addition, stakeholder interviews were conducted and analyzed alongside program documents using the thematic networks methodology to characterize the program based on its theory. The primary findings suggest that while the program is effective, there are implementation flaws. As a result, adjustments in the design of the school feeding program are essential to gradually attain effect indicators. The results constribute to the construction of evaluative knowledge on new public management processes, in particular, in relation to effectiveness.

From program to classroom: a photo elicitation study to understand educators’ experiences implementing garden-based learning following professional development Elisabeth Evans, Gary T. Green, Katherine F. Thompson, Jesse Abrams & Jennifer Jo Thompson Pages: 1-17 | DOI: 10.1080/13504622.2024.2309591 Abstract Garden-based learning, a key component of Farm to School (FTS), continues to grow in popularity as a tool for engaging students in hands-on learning. Recent literature calls for professional development to help educators overcome barriers—including a lack of horticulture skills, curricular connections, and time—that often hinder program success and sustainability. This study sought to understand the role of professional development and its ability to support resilient FTS programs in the classroom. Following participation in a multiday FTS professional development program, seven educators participated in an 11-month photo elicitation study to capture their experience implementing FTS in their classrooms. We find that educators drew on FTS professional development to expand their self-efficacy by successfully implementing what they learned, observing effective models, being affirmed by colleagues and others, and growing their overall confidence to engage in the work. Results also identified persistent barriers that professional development alone cannot reduce. #educatorprofessionaldevelopment #experientiallearning #farmtoschool #selfefficacy #photoelicitation https://lnkd.in/g_eJQQB6

Oh no! Not another fix list! A?Guardian?contributor today offers six ways to make Australian education 'more inclusive', viz: support teachers?and students to grow and learn together; shift toward?self-advocacy; make systemic?changes to the (federal) Budget; allocate funding in new and innovative ways; provide accessible infrastructure; and, more transparency. Well, yes. But what about all the other fix lists? I've summarised (p 78) some of the dozens of them in my?'Unbeaching the Whale: Can Australia's schooling be reformed?'?and then asked some questions: "Why do the contents of the lists differ so much? What do the items on each list have to do with each other? Would they support, counter or proceed independently of each other? Should they be pursued simultaneously or sequenced, and if sequenced, how? All miss something fundamental: in schooling (as elsewhere) everything is related to everything else ... schooling is, as the currently?voguish term has it, an 'ecology ... A collection of insights into this or that part of the ecology, no matter how penetrating, doesn’t add up to a coherent understanding of how things work. No coherent analysis means no coherent strategy. No coherent strategy and you have the story of school reform over the past fifty years, one reform or innovation or policy after another, accumulating costs and complexity as well as problems old and new as they go."?'Unbeaching' doesn't pretend to offer a strategy, but it (and its website unbeaching.com) does suggest a framework and some starting points for the hard work of developing one.

???? The Farm to Fork Strategy has been politically divisive, with many files experiencing significant delays. Only a few have made it to completion and a small number are ongoing. The vast majority of the files under the strategy are yet to be tabled. The latest file to experience delays has been the School Scheme, which has seen two intended adoption dates pass without movement. In this piece, we take a short look back at the Farm to Fork delays and have a closer look at the School Scheme ?? https://lnkd.in/eQpQ5p4S

If you're an educator, health worker, a parent, or have an interest in nature recovery, please add your insights to this short survey
Providing access & regular engagement with nature for children would be a huge boost to health, wellbeing & learning. But how can we make this happen across all education establishments in England? I co-chair Wildlife and Countryside Links Education and Learning Policy group and we're seeking views from teachers, education & pastoral staff, local authority staff, civil servants, parents, guardians & more. Please fill in our short survey to tell us if you'd support a legal duty on childhood access to nature, the barriers in place right now & what benefits you'd envisage. https://lnkd.in/eHx2msN5

As we observe Back to School Month, our upcoming posts will concentrate on refrigeration systems in K-12 schools. In the next few days, we will present three compelling reasons why your school should prioritize energy efficiency in commercial refrigeration systems: Schools face the dual challenge of expanding student populations and shrinking budgets, necessitating cost-saving strategies that also enhance student welfare. Energy efficiency stands out as a practical approach for school administrators to address economic, educational, and environmental objectives. The imperative for energy efficiency has never been greater, especially in educational settings where energy conservation can be both practiced and taught. While the advantages of energy efficiency in schools are too numerous to fit on a single chalkboard, here are a few key reasons why your school should strive for greater energy efficiency.

I covered Professor Mannion's evidence in this piece for Tes Scotland - interesting points about outdoor residential education being just one form of outdoor learning, and that other kinds of experiences can be just as powerful and beneficial https://lnkd.in/eFf6x5UP
Well yesterday was interesting. With Prof Chris Loynes and Dr Roger Scrutton we provided evidence to the Scot Gov Parliamentary Committee: Education, Children and Young People on the proposed Bill on learning outdoors via residential provision - We hope for a good result for all and some new funding for Outdoor Learning.
