The Municipal Engineers of the City of New York will celebrate its Annual Dinner-Dance and Installation of Officers at Terrace on the Park in Flushing Meadows Park on Friday, November 22, 2024. Sudha Mannava and Lindsay Degueldre have been re-nominated as President and First Vice President, respectively. This year, we have the privilege of honoring Mr. Paul Schwartz, P.E. as Municipal Engineer of the Year. As Deputy Commissioner of Bridges of the NYC Department of Transportation, Mr. Schwartz oversees nearly 800 bridges and tunnels. His academic and professional achievements are truly inspiring. Mr. Schwartz holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering from Cornell University, College of Engineering. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of New York. We will honor Ms. Kathryn Garcia as Industry Leader of the Year. Ms. Garcia currently serves as the Director of State Operations for the State of New York. She previously served as Commissioner for the NYC Sanitation Department, interim Chair of the NYC Housing Authority, and Chief Operating Officer of the NYC Department of Environmental Protection. We proudly announce that we are recognizing two Young Engineers this year. Ms. Ketty Paulino, P.E., PMP, Engineer in Charge at New York City Department of Design and Construction will receive the Young Engineer award. Ms. Paulino has a master’s degree in construction management. She is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of New York. Ms. Afroz Surti, P.E., ENV SP, Design Engineer, New York City Department of Design and Construction will also receive the Young Engineer award. Ms. Surti has a master's degree in geotechnical engineering and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering She is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of New York. The Municipal Project of the Year awards will be presented to the Hunts Point Interstate Access Improvements Design-Build Project (HP2) and the Long Island Railroad Expansion from Floral Park to Hicksville Stations Project.
