The VSS Child Advocacy Center provides forensic interviews for children in child maltreatment investigations. Some children and families must be at the center for hours at a time, especially families with multiple children to be interviewed. VSS provides snacks and drinks to families while they wait, and when possible, sends a few snacks and drinks to go home with them. VSS works closely with Law Enforcement, the District Attorney’s Office, and Child Protective Services during these investigations and provides snacks and drinks to these partners as they are also here for hours at a time. We would love your help with providing these small but meaningful comforts to our families and partners during such difficult and overwhelming Child Advocacy Center visits. I’ve been quiet…it’s weirding people out. But here’s why: 2-3% of children in the USA don't have beds. They sleep on the floor in piles of clothes or blankets or…whatever they can get. And for six months, we've been quietly strategizing how to help change that statistic. Check it out: Kristin and I just launched Luff Sheets, where every sheet set sold *also* means a new set of sheets donated to organizations that build beds for kids. People need sheets, the kids need sheets. It’s a win/win and a more meaningful approach to retail therapy. Not only are the sheets incredibly comfortable and buttery (we don’t sleep on anything else anymore), but holy sugar…we had no idea the demand for donated sheets. It’s huge. I see the goodness of God. ?? We don’t have to look far to see the depravity of man. Many of those who are homeless experience this almost daily. I cannot imagine what it must be like to have such fears and circumstances. As there is sin and sadness in the world, I believe in the goodness of God. We serve a good God and there are people who He calls to be good to those who experience such bad things. TW: Baby Loss Supporting colleagues through baby loss: It’s more than words The pain of losing a baby is a heartbreak no one should face alone. And yet, for many who do, the silence from colleagues and workplaces can feel isolating. Talking about baby loss is uncomfortable because it confronts every parent's worst fear. A simple message, acknowledging their loss and using their baby’s name, can be a powerful way to show you're there. Founder of Baby Loss charity Teddy's Wish approached us in 2020 about working together on gifts that could be sent to grieving parents. We’re honoured to work with the charity; DBHF donates from every package sold and Teddy’s Wish send care packages out to parents going through loss. In partnership with Teddy's Wish, we’ve introduced the Teddy's Wish Wave of Light Care Package to offer a gesture of care for those grieving. While we can’t ease the pain, the package is a reminder that no one has to go through it alone. Whether it's a friend or a colleague, support matters.
