Today is a Bank Holiday in France - Jour Férié . This particular holiday is Fête Du Travail/Labour Day, which you can read about in the link below. This is first of many this month. You might want to make at note of the other days which are as follows:- Wednesday 8 May - Victory In Europe Day Thursday 9 May - Ascension Day (the 40th Day after Easter - Jesus ascends to Heaven) sometimes referred to as Holy Thursday. Because the two Bank Holidays fall on a Wednesday and Thursday, many places including schools, ‘faire le pont’ This means that they bridge the Bank Holiday onto the weekend. Essentially, they take the Friday off as well to make it a long weekend! We will also be closed from Wednesday 8 May and re-opening on13 May.
