Opinion: It was controversial when Ray Charles sang “non-gospel” songs in the style of church music.. but it was a huge success!! So what would happen if a company like Amazon started highlighting the style of the winter holiday season… the entire year!! Picture an eight year old dressing themselves in their Christmas Pokémon t-shirt out of season .. and the mom tells him to change.. why? And let’s face it .. kids these days grow up listening to grown up (parents) music from a young age. Why can’t we take a page out of the hip hop playbook (sampling music) and reimagine the biggest classics as Christmas / holiday songs? Ex. imagine a song called “reindeer” in the exact style of Alice In Chains song “rooster”. So not only is it a year round style, but it’s also ingrained in popular music!! Ideally, not only kids would dress in holiday themed clothes throughout the year, but adults as well. Would it be good for capitalism? Yes! Would elements of year round holiday spirit be good for overall well being? Yes! Would there be a meme-like market reaction if Andy started dressing year round in holiday clothes and started promoting the ideology.. maybe!! Earn Trust… invent and simplify.... think big… giddy up!!

I feel sorry for all those silenced testers over the last few weeks. As businesses hurry to promote Black Friday changes and pre-Christmas features, testing is usually put on the back burner. JFDI. The issue is, most of the time, this does not save the business any money. Take Moonpig, for example. Throughout the entire Black Friday weekend, the "Gifts" page was completely broken on browsers. It said no stock was available for any of those products. Now, think how much that has just cost them, both in reputation and in the now-year-old stock they need to try to shift next year. It did work on Mobile, and you could purchase the intended gifts. But this also makes me question if this is not SCREAMING from an automation standpoint. Were the production golden thread checks not all red in this area? Did no business person navigate the site on the busiest weekend of the year?

Create a waitlist now: Many business are creating waitlists, yes. But yours is going to be tagged a “Private” or “VIP” waitlist. Trust me, those who will join will still join, and then some. 2. Make sales without losing money: Whiles your competitors and others are giving 50-75% discount, maintain yours at a percentage that practically works for you. It could be 25%, just make sure to make it known that it is so because you don’t want to compromise quality. Many businesses will be in debt after Black Friday, but you won’t if you follow this. Most frustrating thing businesses do on black friday: Refuse to apply discounts for existing customers. They ask you to cancel your subscription and re-subscribe instead of simply applying it to your account. Never understood why businesses are willing to give discounts to new customers, while denying it to loyal active customers.
