This Sunday marks a significant enhancement in the passenger experience at Melbourne Airport with the introduction of more than 2,500 new trolleys. The selection process for the new trolleys involved extensive customer research, future demand modelling as Victoria continues to grow, and a global tender process. The new trolleys are over 30% lighter, offering smoother and quieter navigation, and can be found at 22 state-of-the-art payment kiosks. These interactive kiosks support WePay and AliPay, and feature multilingual interfaces for added convenience. Starting March 2, trolley hire will be $5 in domestic terminals, while passengers arriving internationally—where trolleys are most needed—will continue to have access to them free of charge.
