Melbourne Airport的动态

The world’s largest fully automated indoor vertical farm is coming to Melbourne Airport! Stacked Farm, in partnership with Melbourne Airport, have secured funding and planning approval to build a $150 million high-tech indoor vertical farm right here at Melbourne Airport - setting a new global benchmark for sustainable food production. The facility, built and owned Melbourne Airport will be fitted out by Stacked Farm, who will own and operate the ongoing business. This 10,000-square-metre, climate-controlled facility will produce 3.4 million kilograms of fresh herbs and leafy greens annually, eliminating the need for costly imports and reducing reliance on unpredictable weather. Fully automated from seed to bag, the farm will use cutting-edge robotics, run entirely on green energy, and operate with a zero-waste water system - delivering fresh, locally grown produce 365 days a year. We’re proud to welcome Stacked Farm to Melbourne Airport, further strengthening our commitment to innovation and sustainability. As part of our 85-hectare Southern Precinct, this facility will not only revolutionise food production but also reinforce Melbourne’s status as Australia’s food capital. Construction is underway, with the first harvest expected in mid-2026. #MelbourneAirport #StackedFarm #SustainableFarming #Innovation #FoodProduction

Seriously? Before a rail link? I doubt many travellers going through MEL could care less given you could have spent this money toward a rail link which would have a far greater impact on sustainability.

Love it! Congratulations Melbourne Airport, Stacked Farm? and Total Construction for bringing this project to life. We love #sustainability at Quest Melbourne Airport and Quest Apartment Hotels

We're importing half a million people every year and building dog boxes for them to live in on prime vegetable growing land, so now we're forced to eat this chemically grown, tasteless stuff.

Super exciting! I remember when Stacked was starting the design in Burleigh Heads and now they're taking off (excuse the pun, couldn't help it) ??
